Why I Support President Bush and the ZOT!
Posted on 03/19/2006 6:29:28 AM PST by thousand dollar hamburger
I think he has a sincere desire to help everyone. he has even gone out of his way to embrace people like Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. He does not hold grudges as shown by his willingness to bend over backwards to allow terrorist supporting nations to operate our ports. We need this type of benevolent leader.
Our President is not a cheapskate, as he has opened up our budget to give to anyone who might need anything.
Aliens from all nations are welcomed into our great country without having to deal with mundane bureaucratic State approval. Cutting government red tape -- that's the Bush way!
Yes, our Prseident even realizes that occupying as many countries around the world as possible is the best way to spread American ideals.
We are truly lucky to have this great man. I suggest that at 10:00 AM EST, we all stand up in unison and shout -- HOORAY FOR BUSH!!!

Sounds? Depends on how much static they pick up. Not sure dust has piezoelectric qualities. Maybe NicknamedBob could fill in a blank or two.

There is such a thing as being "too civilized".So Mr. Simmons noted in his piece, and I concur, as well. Unfortunately, while I rather like your "heathen v. heathen" scenario, There are 1.2 billion or so of the one group of heathen and substantively fewer of the other. Unless there's some grand plan for Odin and Thor to appear and, betwixt the deuce of them, annihilate 1,199 millon of the enemy...well, the Norsemen are a wee bit outnumbered.
Actually, barring the aforementioned manifestation of Norse gods, not only are the Norsemen outnumbered, but the entire cast of Europeans, Occidental Asians, Australians and Americans collectively barely even up the ranks.

Depends on the kill ratio then. Also, we won't be fighting the whole population of them, just the radicals that the parts of their populations that aid and abet them.
Our armed forces are already slaughtering "insurgents" at unheard of rates. Toss out the rules of engagement and feed 'em some Beserker mushrooms. Just remember to keep your fingers clear of the cage during feeding time.

"Colorful metaphors" comes from that old Star Trek movie where they land the commandeered Klingon ship in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. During the same conversation, Kirk and Spock are walking down the streets of SF and encounter one of the "wired" locals; one for whom the 1960's were especially "good" and who is still living them. Post-encounter, Spock looks at Capt. Kirk inquisitively and, by way of explanation Kirk deadpans, "LDS".

Ah, yes, kill ratio. At 25:1, it will take the expenditure of 4.8 million freedom-loving lives to neutralize the 10% among the ranks of the Islamists who are, presently, radicalized. This assumes that the conflict does not induce the spontaneous radicalization of additional Islamists. Depending upon their reaction, Muslim opinion makers could well induce another 10-15% of the Muslim world to engage the conflict with their peculiar die-for-Allah zeal. This would require the commitment of an additional 7.2 million troops on behalf of the free world; a feat possible only under the imposition of a draft and/or if the Chi-coms take up arms WITH us, not against us. If they see the conflict as their golden opportunity to retake Taiwan and ensure their place as the sole superpower in the world, they may well side with the Islamists -- albeit below the radar -- as they seek to aid them in toppling the Western powers; the United States, in particular.
On the whole, the free nations of the world should be prepared to commit over 10 million troops to put down the threat constituted by radicalized Islamists.

Now, you DID take the time to actually read Mr. Simmons' stroy, right? All that I wrote makes sense in that context.

25:1? Er... latest estimates are closer to 1000:1 in Iraq. Hit Mecca during Hajj and you'll axe a couple million with one MOAB. We've got 80 million gun owners in the Country alone. Give 'em a financial incentive via Letters of M&R and let slip the dogs of war.

Hey DC, long time no ping -- and howdy Face and NYC :)
Howdy from East Side Manhatten (I guess). I am across the street from the Waldorf (which was actually cheaper than my hotel).
The weather here is better than Los Angeles (but not as good as in Pto Vallarta). Just had a GREAT walk from here to Central Park, through Central Park, then over to Times Square and back. Weather is clear and sunny, low 60's with a nice. cool breeze.
I understand now why a NYer would really love it here. Pretty cool place with lots of people and lots of energy.
But driving here would probably make me nutso.

Well, 1000:1 is certainly far better than I'd heard. The question is this: Does that figure ONLY include armed combatants KIA in the conflict, or does it also include inteintional civilian casualties; as in the 3000 who perished in the WTC, and the hundreds killed by Islamist homicide bombers?
My gut-level is that the Islamofanatics are using a kill ratio definition that includes everyone they intentionally target; military or civilian. Our adoption of a similar standard of measurement will be one indicator of our willingness to be as ruthless as we need to be to assure victory.

How long will you be in NYC?
I have a friend there who says he's "seen the west" so there's no reason for him to come back!
