A boring day. A day without my FRiends is not even a real day...

And while I'm thinking of it...I've missed being sround in the evenings when you're here...;o]

I counted 32 times for me

Ha, quitter! I must have tried forty times before going to the backup Yahoo! group and Free Dominion and twenty times after that. It was easy, though, because I kept one window on the FR main page at all times.

Ohwow! I just remembered! In DT VI, I think, SK mentioned "Santa Mira." Did you pick up on that? I think it was in a conversation with Eddie and Roland.

He did the introduction for the book "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers." I had to laugh when I saw Santa Mira mentioned. He was pulling out all the stops! And I just got tht book less than two months ago...;o]

FR's crash didn't keep these IRA trolls away:

We had an entertaining troll on the Yahoo! group that claimed to know JimRob personally. He stated that he has been on FR--in one form or another--since 1987. (For those of you who don't know, Free Republic was a pencil sharpener in 1987.)

I may have to dig up some of those quotes.

Now THAT sounds like one for the "Trolls Of Indescribable Stench" file.

His name was "picci8t".

I was trying to find that stuff earlier but it, along with my classic ascii ZOT post has disappeared?!? Not even a "post removed by moderator" tag.

Yahoo sucks!

On a single day I lost 4 usernames. More often than not, however, I last from a few day to a a couple of weeks. But I register my names in batches. So, no prob. > > >

Heh.

Good catch.

He really did do some research into the actual towns and cities that he depicted in such vivid detal throughout the DT.

I suppose it was easier for some, e.g. the East Side of Manhattan, than others, like rural Kansas.

I guess using Turtle Bay as the place where the rose bloomed was appropriate-considering the role of the turtle in relation to the beams-although I usually associate the United Nations with evil and corruption, not holding the key to civilization.

BTW, this is the UK version of the bookjacket used for Song of Susannah.

Selection of Shakespearean-style invective. I'm not sure of the source; it was posted on the NC forum:

Swim with leeches, thou jarring folly-fallen pignut!
Away I say, thou incurable codpiece-sniffing hedge-pig!
Kiss my codpiece, thou fobbing hasty-witted pumpion!
Resign not thy day gig, thou puking swag-bellied gudgeon!
Beware my sting, thou pribbling knotty-pated pignut!

Aw, man! That was an instant classic. My semaphore ZOT didn't go over so well.
