He really did do some research into the actual towns and cities that he depicted in such vivid detal throughout the DT.
I suppose it was easier for some, e.g. the East Side of Manhattan, than others, like rural Kansas.
I guess using Turtle Bay as the place where the rose bloomed was appropriate-considering the role of the turtle in relation to the beams-although I usually associate the United Nations with evil and corruption, not holding the key to civilization.
BTW, this is the UK version of the bookjacket used for Song of Susannah.
