In Planet Mercury years, I'm a quarter of a millenium.

Doesn't bother me though. I recently had myself reincarnated. I'm thinking of getting a bumper sticker, "My other personality is much younger."

That's going to be a long time to go without meat.

Jumped The Shark when...

I tend to agree.

The perfect pair of shoes?

Have you tried glass slippers? If you lose them, they get returned to you.

Or ruby slippers, to save on cab fare?

"I GIVE UP"

Hey KP, don't give up the ship (yet :-))!

I'm a Canon tech, and have had many installs like this. Most of the time it can be made to work. Whether or not this is desirable, is entirely up to you, lol!

First, determine which version win98 is being used; 98 or 98SE.
If 98, either find a copy of 98SE, or upgrade PC.

Second, determine if the USB port on the PC is an add-on USB card or motherboard based.
If an add-on, go to mfgrs. site and see if drivers are available.
If motherboard based, go to PC mfgrs. (Compaq?) site and look for chipset and/or USB drivers for that model. You may need to do a BIOS upgrade; however doing that is generally painfull, and a new PC would be a better bet. Check Microsoft's site for the latest (last?) USB drivers for win98.
Getting the USB situation squared away should allow the install to complete.

All of the above being said, is this printer being installed on a single PC, or a network? Most Canons have more than one connection option, and will perform best using the network option if available.

Rather than boring our FRiends any further, Freep-mail me and we can figger sumptin out!

They're all withering on the vine over on the Jim Robinson Magnum Opus thread.

Yeah, I noticed the apocalyptic thread myself.

I thought it was a sequel to the great anti-McCain jeremiad that he had posted yesterday.

Something needs to be done to stop that loon from winning the Republican nomination two years from now.

But what?

I will tell them that I am opposed to it.

The reference link goes to an article about the blogger protection bill (among other things) that was posted this evening.

I have another early day tomorrow, so I better get some sleep. Good night!

Oh, that.

Yeah, I think that's Congressman Hersaerling's (sp?) baby.

He did a diary about that when it first came up for a vote on Redstate.org.

The weaselly Democrats have come up with an alternative that they claim carves out exceptions for politically-oriented websites that don't raise money, IIRC.

The point is that "McConnell" needs to be overturned by the SCOTUS immediately.

It's on par with "Kelo" as one of the single worst decisions in recent memory.

ooooo! a Canon Tech-weenie!

I can say that the printer is being linked to a stand-alone computer. I cannot answer the rest at the moment.

I can't go through this right now, as I am in the main office rather than over at the site, but I can probably arrange things so that I can be over there this afternoon (4-5 hrs from now), and at that time I shall be *overjoyed* to avail myself of your expertise!

Happy Birthday, Sionnsar. Would you like a left-handed birthday poem?

Thanks for the offer, but it'll have to wait 364 days now... *\;-)

repeat after me "I am twenty eight and some months old."

How can I say that when I don't remember 28?

Was that before or after electricity...?
