It's not a "brand" name.
It's more of a finish hard finish...(before everything was polyurethane.)

Oh... we never got technical with such things; it's just 'sanding sealer', 'lacquer', 'base coat' etc.

Uhhh, try typing without wearing your cats. The one on your head seems to keep slipping over your eyes.

You can get in and out pretty quick in CA, too, if you take the time to schedule an appointment in advance. If you do that, you just walk in at the predetermined time and step right to the head of the line; they cut you in ahead of all of the "walk-in" folks. Not having an appointment is a real gamble, because, if seven people in a row come in who have appointments, you'll keep getting bumped down the list until they're all done. Depending upon what they came in for, that could end up being an additional 30 - 90 minutes waiting.
I showed up less than a half hour after the doors opened and it's Monday, so I figured I could pull off a walk-in without getting bumped too much, and I was right. Fortunately.

Shellac is sometimes called 'French finish'. The actual shellac material comes in a flake form. These flakes have to be dissolved into a solvent/oil blend, like denatured alcohol and boild linseed oil, in order to create a brush-on finish product.
Where can I get shellac flakes?

What, exactly, is 'shellac'?

Posting from a public library somewhere in darkest Central Pennsylvania.
That was quite a lot of postings to catch up on.

Hi, Fanfan!
Did you read my little story about the guy in the space-suit?
I thought it was a good touch to give him a way to scratch his nose.

Shellac is sometimes called 'French finish'. Well, it has to be called the French finish then because it must always try and run, right?

Hi 'Face! You didn't have that spare just loose in the back of the truck, did you?
Seems that a lot of folks don't want to go to the trouble of putting the spare back underneath, where it is relatively safe from poachers.
