Other stories suggest that Valentine may have been killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured
- 192 million Valentines Day cards are exchanged annually, making Valentines Day the second-most popular greeting-card-giving occasion. (This total excludes packaged kids valentines for classroom exchanges.) (Source: Hallmark research)
- Nearly 60 percent of all Valentines Day cards are purchased in the six days prior to the observance, making Valentines Day a procrastinators delight. (Source: Hallmark research)
- There are 120 single men (i.e., never married, widowed or divorced) who are in their 20s for every 100 single women of the same ages.
- There are 33 single men (i.e., never married, widowed or divorced) age 65 or older for every 100 single women of the same ages.
2.2 million marriages take place in the United States annually.
That breaks down to more than 6,000 a day.
- 145,800 marriages are performed in Nevada during 2004.
So many couples tie the knot in the Silver State that it ranked fourth nationally in marriages, even though its total population that year among states was 35th.
Hmmm... If I'm reading you correctly, I bet if you increase your "asking out" ratio from one time a year to one time every couple weeks, you might get a date.
You've got a good sense of humor. Also a lot of time on your hands, I think. Start writing a book. That will take up maybe a year or so of time. Sell the book to a publishing company and become rich.
See how easy that is?
Well one is I am ultra shy, two my interests tend to conflict with others (you are one of the few "nerdettes" as you said. Not many into sci-fi either in this area) and three it takes awhile to get over the hurt of the previous one.
Yeah, that's been my plan for a while now. Just a matter of time.
A very good friend of mine is a Star Trek GEEK. He has numerous spaceships dangling from the ceiling of his apartment, Star Trek collector's dishes on the book shelves, countless plastic models on table tops, dressers, the TV... he couldn't understand why he couldn't meet the right woman. I told him that they day he brings a date home and the first thing out of her mouth is, "I LOVE what you've done to the place," will be the next girl he marries. Mind you, he is in his mid-thirties now. Apparently, that woman of his dreams walked into his life just this past December....
Well, humor is my best talent, but humor is one of the toughest markets to crack. It'd be best to get a book published first in a more acceptable topic to make a name for myself.
It actually doesn't require knowledge, just a willingness to do research.
I've already started work on my first book. It's a book of interesting facts/factoids about space and the universe. Simple, effective, and has a specific target audience. Has all the makings of a good and publishable nonfiction work.
I wish you luck. Getting a book published is kind of like breaking into show business. You have to catch the right breaks. But you can't get any breaks until you write the book.
WOW. Most of my scifi material is in the form of books or movies or games. I used to build stuff with legos but I dont have the room anymore. I just hope my luck gets better lol.
Thanks. All very true.
From my research into the bookwriting industry, I would compare writing books to starting your own business. You have to work, be organized and disciplined, and treat it like a streamlined profession (treat writing like a stamp collection and you're doomed to fail).
Been nice talking, everyone. But it's time to retire.
G'night.
Goodnight.
Good night to you too - and everyone else! I'm pooping out... this has been fun. I haven't been up THIS late in while...hubby's got drill this weekend, and he's got to be up at Oh-dark-hundred this morning...which means I've gotta be up at Oh-dark hundred. (I might as well stay up!)
I am writing mine first so I have it ready for when I do try it. I am writing a short story (I have been advised to do so) and plan to write more short stories in hopes of making myself known.
Goodnight :) Perhaps we could play Deus Ex Multiplayer (there is a patch that adds it) sometime.
Watch out though, I'm REALLY GOOD, and I'm armed with a double-processor and an ATI Radeon X850 video card....
I missed you reply in all the confusion. Thanks for the compliment on my niece. I'll tell her you said so.
She isn't vain at all. I don't think she has the slightest idea of how pretty she is. I think her high school prom, where the picture is from, is where she had her first date. Maybe one or two other dates before that. Very outgoing with her family and friends, very reserved with strangers.
Right now I have been working on a major family video production with Windows Movie Maker for my son's wedding on Valentine's Day and have something like that, but in clouds in the sky, so I am adding that (picture from your first post) to my collection so that it can be slipped into another spot in the video.
