Oddsmakers favor Colts, not Steelers next season ESPN.com news services
Despite winning Super Bowl XL, the Pittsburgh Steelers aren't the favorite next season.
The MGM Mirage has already installed the Indianapolis Colts, who lost to the Steelers in the playoffs this year after being viewed as the favorite much of the season, as 4-1 favorites.
The Seattle Seahawks, who lost Sunday to the Steelers, are the favorite in the NFC at 5-1.
The oddsmakers also have the New England Patriots, winners of three of the past five Super Bowls, at 5-1.
As for the champion Steelers, they and the Carolina Panthers are both listed at 6-1.

Last year, crybaby Peyton blamed the kicker. This year he blamed his offensive line - not a good move for long life expectancy when playing quarterback.
I don't think Indy's offensive line is like Denver or Pittsburgh's where you can almost plug in any running back. Edge will do well wherever he winds up.
I was too young to watch that game. Was he pretty bad that day?
You Patriot fans kill me. You make it sound like the Patriots were the only team that were hampered by injuries. News Flash! Other teams have to deal with injuries too. It's part of the game.
Not to mention losing Light and Koppen.
He'll probably blame his coach when they lose next year.
What were the odds the Seagulls would stop crying by next season??
Pray for W and Our Freedom Fighters
Just out of curiosity, who did these oddmakers call for this year??
What the "L" are you talking about?
What else can I say!
FOUTS: 15 seasons, 3,297 passes completed for 43,040 yards (third player ever to pass for more than 40,000 yards) and 254 touchdowns and an 80.2-point rating; rushed for 476 yards 13 touchdowns. Led the NFL in passing yardage four straight years from 1979 to 1982, became the first player in history to throw for 4,000 yards in three consecutive seasons; AFC Player of the Year in 1979; 1982 NFL Most Valuable Player; 1982 AFC Player of the Year; 1982 NFL Offensive Player of the Year ;All-Pro choice in 1979, 1982, and 1985 and All-AFC in 1979 and 1982; played in six Pro Bowls in a seven-year span.
STABLER: 15 seasons, 2,270 passes completed for 27,938 yards, 194 touchdowns; rushed for 118 yards and 4 touchdowns. Four-time Pro Bowler; 4-8 seasons among the league's top 10 in pass attempts, completions, passing yards, passing TDs, and adjusted yards per pass; All-Pro twice, All-AFC three times, AFC Player of the Year twice.
We know that. I'm proud they did as well as they did considering how beat up they were. The one good thing is that a lot of their young players got plenty of playing time this year. It'll serve them well next year.
well, if you look at the steelers schedule, and the fact that they are going to be losing Randel El, and their offensive Coordinator. I dont see them doing anything next year either.
I'm pretty sure they picked Indy.
1500 yards rushing, another 300 receiving. 14 TDs. yeah, that will be hard to replace. get this -- TWO fumbles in 2005.
For the second year in a row the Pats set a record for starters due to injury. Yes injuries are part of the game but the Pats have had way more than their share.
HE blamed the kicker? Wasnt that a response To the kicker after the kicker called him names? And as far as him saying "we had protection problems" how many times was he sacked and hurried in that game? He was just stating the obvious.
I would like to believe that there will be atleast 1 different team in there that wasn't listed on anyone's top 5 list this year...ok, I admit I'm a Raiders fan and they are 1 superbowl away from joining the big 3 (SF, Dallas and now Pittsburgh)...But, perhaps another sleeper team will arise (AZ Cardinals perhaps?) I know - I can almost hear the snickers through my computer, but hey, atleast its worth a good laugh!
The cap's finally caught up with them.
