Has '24' Gone Bush-Bashing? (**Spoiler Vanity**)
Posted on 01/30/2006 9:06:33 PM PST by Lunatic Fringe
So it seems that the plotline for this season's '24' is that a dark, shadowy conspiracy of white American puppetmasters is exploiting the threat of terrorism in order to 'secure the flow of oil for the next generation,' manipulating a weak, dim-witted President to achieve their diabolical goals of world domination and economical power.

Wow, did anybody see 24 tonight? Powerful message about * administration
Basically, one of the chief advisors to the President, a Scooter Libby/Karl Rove type, conspired to put WMDs in Central Asia in order to be able countries there in the future. It was amazing and I think it may make some of the conservatives that worship that show take that message to heart.

Great story on '24' - warning, spoiler
Apologies if posted already. Cannot search effectively.
Anyway, last we've heard, Walt Cummings, the W.H. chief of staff was in cahoot with the terrorists who first killed two hostages - and were going to kill more - then grabbed several cylinders of toxic gas, destination unknown.
This evening Cummings was exposed and... this was a plan to let the terrorists take the cylinders to their hideaway place in Central Asia. Once there, Cummings' man would detonate them thus killing all the terrorists in their dens and.... assuring the supply of Central Oil to the U.S.

Busch Light is your friend. We drink beer around here. Besides, it's cheap. Not Ice or Lager or anything that has the name Ale in it. No Dark Malt Aged Honeynut Roasted Lager Special Blend.
Just light beer. Domestic please.

I've tried to like 24, I really have. But I come away thinking it's the most overrated TV show in history. Circuitous plots, lots of unnecessary yelling (all Jack does is "NOOOOOOOOO!!!," and, "Chloe! I need this NOW!"), and something going wrong every hour, on the hour. I'm happy for those who enjoy it, but not my cup of tea. Furthermore, the more die-hard fans seem unable to brook any dissension from hero-worship of Bauer & Co.

I have never watched the show, but the teaser for this week's episode said that the "President's right-hand man" was a traitor a la Karl Rove?
Of course, Karl Rove is a true American hero.

GOOD ONE. I am collecting all the replies to my smartass TV posts. (I am trying to enlighten some folks) Yours will go right between "go to sleep" and "break dance naked".
Thank You for your response!!!

I've actually never seen it. I've started to just let the Bush Bashers have their say. To heck with them. Our guy won (twice) and they can't seem to get over it. A broken clock is right twice a day, but to Bush-Bashers, Bush has never been right on anything in all these years. Heck, I even agreed with Clintoon once or twice, and I was one of the biggest Clintoon-Bashers around.
Let 'em bash all they want. They lost, and will continue to lose....I hope.

w00t! Tonight was an exciting episode. 24 is an adventure series that requires a suspension of belief, as much or more than say, LOST. If you can let go, it's a wild ride with p[lenty of plot twists and shifty charactors.
Just remember this..Jack Bauer once forgot where he put his keys. He then spent the next half-hour torturing himself until he gave up the location of the keys.

Does anyone else see the resemblance between the "weak President" and Democrat geek Bruce Babbitt?
Or am I'm a kook?

But the statement by the WH staffer turned traitor - was tinged with over-zealousness about being a "patriot" and doing whatever it takes to save the world's oil.
I'm sorry but it sounded waaaaaay to much like the leftist moonbats' statements about conservatives. If this happens again .. I will no longer watch 24.
I simply refuse to be manipulated by a TV program. So far they were doing pretty much what I would hope our terrorist hunters would be doing. But if this is the beginning of the propaganda .. sorry .. they can take their show and shove it!

the president in this 24 season is not decisive, no spine, and I don't care for him too much. Kind of reminds of of Jimmy Carter.

Question: Why do all the characters whisper? Drives me nuts.Me too!!!! I can't hear what they're saying and I have to turn the volume up. Then my husband throws a hissy fit cause he thinks it's too loud. Then we fight over the remote for ten minutes. This happens during every 24 show.
To: catbertz
Uh, we're a bit at cross purposes here. 1) I'm a '24' addict, 2) Tonight's episode was right in line, and it was high time that b&st&rd Walt faced Bauer while Bauer was in a bad mood, 3) Preaching to the choir, m'friend; I've argued 'suspension of disbelief' about 24 for about 2 years, 4) Can't believe Bauer didn't even ASK about Mike, who was presumably still in custody, 5) What the devil were the writers 'thinking', putting in that bit about the traitor claiming he's a 'patriot' and that manipulation of weaponised 'nerve gas' is somehow a ploy to guarantee future oil supplies (suspension of disbelief is one thing; staggeringly illiterate geopolitical/economic notions are something else again)?, 6) Lose Audrey; adds nothing except bureaucratic attitude and moping., and 7) ...
WHERE THE H*LL was Chloe tonight? One lousy short scene at the workstation, sheesh!
