George Clooney is being hotly-tipped to play Magnum PI in a new movie.
Film bosses believe the handsome star would be perfect as the suave private investigator, played by Tom Selleck in the classic TV show.
A source is quoted in Britain's Daily Star newspaper as saying:
"He is a big fan of the original series. The part is his if he wants it." Meanwhile, George - who split from on/off girlfriend Lisa Snowdon last year - recently revealed he thinks 2006 will be the year he settles down.
The 44-year-old heartthrob - renowned for keeping his romantic life under wraps - said: "I want to be married with six kids this year. I want six little sextuplets around."
The star also admitted he believes in love at first site, saying: "It happened to my parents. My dad asked my mum on a date and asked her to marry him immediately.
"They're still together so I know love at first sight can work."
The doe-eyed, pouty, one-note Clooney as Magnum? ROFL
Selleck's the man for that role & always will be.
Correct. Magnum was not James Bond.
My bad.
I haven't seen any quotes from him in the news. I sort of figured Tom was a real person not a cardboard cutout like George.
I guess Alec Baldwin was unavailable.
Whoops, I typed the wrong promoun in the first sentence of that post. Should have been:
First thing THEY oughta do is actually watch the TV series.
I really wasn't meaning to direct that at you, presidio9.
Sorry.
Bruce is OK, but Tom's got the seniority. Clint to over for Heston.
Handsome?
Heartthrob?
Who's drinking acid laced KoolAid? George Clooney is a legend in his own mind. Go ahead and do the movie so we can watch that one bomb too.
First of all George Clooney is an idiot. (I just had to say it.) Secondly, I spent nearly EVERY Wednesday evening of my life during the "Magnum P.I." years with a bottle of wine, a few bottles of nail polish and my best girlfriends.
Selleck is total eye-candy, no matter how old he (or I) get!
Now please, someone explain to me why Monica would choose Chandler over Tom? Good golly. "Friends" totally jumped the shark with THAT story line, LOL! He was the only reason I ever tuned in to that dopey show!
And let's all take a moment to remember that scrumpy Robert Urich as "Spencer: For Hire" George Who?
There is your new Bond girl.
"And of course I love the humor. It's a very funny magazine."
Trust me, I can take it.

Magnum was much like selick, too bad they don't use the original.
Sellick has acutal talent and I would acutally pay money to see him act.
Actually, this is my preference for the next Bond girl.
Screw it, I'll just get out my Quiggly Down Under movie and watch that. No one is a better cowboy since John Wayne.
BTW, TV will not be new territory for Clooney. That's him (before multiple plastic surgeries) in his original recurring role on "Facts of Life."
Since this story was deemed not important enough for current news, I thought you might like to be appraised of it.
