OK, new thread for the next week.

First, a big shout out to the SETI and BOINC members who have added CPUs to the effort. Remember, its Team 36120, NOT Team 0.

Next, congrats to all for bumping our team up to 512 processors and 220 user names. We have a number of new users in the team, with over a dozen folders now from GetLoaded.com all popping onto the hit list this week.

We now have ten members who have contributed at least 10,000 points each. Klutz Dohanger, Malsua, Ken in Texas, Andrewksu, LSimpson, kingu, Uriah, arderenne and rach_FR have all reached this milestone. Papasmurf and Senator Bedfellow will join them this next week. Great job!

Even more impressive, our team now boasts 132 members who have folded at least 1,000 points. That is more than the entire number of CPUs folding for our erstwhile left-wing environazi competitors!

Free Republic Folding@Home Stats Page

On the global front, Free Republic Folders is now listed at # 401. We will be in the Top 400 on Sunday!

As we continue to grow there are a number of milestones coming around the bend:

Top 300 by February
Top 250 by the end of the February

We have 800,000 points so far and have folded over 6,400 WU. We will reach an exalted mark of folding a million points per month, each and every month! Fantastic!

Thanks again to all that are helping us advance science and promote the peaceful use of computers.

It's been about 18 months, since I even looked at a mac, but there is a built in sysinfo utility (somewhere), that will tell you what processes are running, and how much CPU they are consuming.

My G4 Powerbook started getting real sluggish, the fan stayed on all the time, and CPU utilization was maxed out.

Turned out to be the McAfee Anti-Virus. It had become corrupt, would launch, and then forever more, take up 75% of the cpu, forever.

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable about Macs can be more specific, but I think that this is probably the case.

Thanks. I found all of the system info EXCEPT the CPU readings. I guess I'll wander down the hall and ask the poor PC guy they hired to work on our iBooks where I find that information.

I put 75 more CPU's on the task today, but had to throttle them back to 80%. They should start showing up by Thursday or so.

Have you Noticed the latest ?? over at DU? They think that we're blowing them away in CPU count, by hyperthreading....

hehehee... they're also focusing on the wrong stats, as usual.

I just love the discussions like... this WU is taking forever, but I turn my PC off at work, when I go home for the day..

DUH!!!!!! :)

Under no circumstances tell 'em about the dilithium crystals we're using.

At this rate, we should be in the Top 300 in less than 2 weeks

At our current rate of production, 11 days:

From the DemoUnderbelly site:

mcscajun (1000+ posts) Mon Jan-23-06 01:47 PM Response to Reply #118 121. Wanna bet this is how the Freepers built up their point count? By shortchanging the future to embellish the present?

So typical for their ilk, blame your weakness on someone else.
Lie, deny, delflect, object... Y-a-w-n.
It must really suck to be them.

"Under no circumstances tell 'em about the dilithium crystals we're using."

Dilithium Crystsals???

Dude, dilithium crystals only mediate the reaction between the matter and anti-matter in a cpu's main processor core, don't they know that?

Me, I've already migrated to Deuterium. Which is, as you know, an isotope of hydrogen used as the primary fuel for both the H/T-Dual Core AND SMP engines. Hehe, it's stored in a frozen "slush" state in a case mounted, radiator equipped, tank. Looks just like a cooler. Nobody will ever know...

:O)

Apparently not. Most of us recrystallize the Front Side Bus FSB by flipping the mototerboard over and then underclocking the Under Side Bus USB, to achieve our higher than normal results. When they discover how do to that we're in trouble. Don't tell.

I'm gonna try your Deuterium approach too.

Well, you and I are doing the best we can with what we have to work with, that's for sure. BUT, if we had Klutz's money, we could afford 175 ultra HT quad cpu setups, too.

:O)

I still don't understand why Rove passed me over and chose Klutz to run the Op Center.

Only 167... it would have been 175, but my income tax rate went up, and since I'm not one of the richest 1%, Bush screwed me. It should have been only 161, but I scraped thru by feeding my Grandmother dog food, and buying her pills from a AlGore's vetinarian. :)

That's what you get for reading those out of date Tech manuals. You can only do so much with "Trons and Trannies".

Real power comes from putting a pyramid shaped block of crystal on top of your cpu, and gently wafting honeysuckle scented incense in your fan intakes. CPU's are all about Karma man, and once you learn karma, and how to Channel, dude, you too can be awesome, like me.

I'm secretly running a bank of 100 refurbished TRS-80's, deep beneath my barn, and my only power sources are the crystals, a lightning rod, and two scented candles.
