The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

They don't need THAT much entertainment...

The place smells mousy. I think there have been quite a few hiding out there since it's been empty.

I imagine even if we block up the main entry, they'll probably find some to play with. Ugh...

That is one of those pictures that you just couldn't set up to come out as well as it did. :-D

Maybe Rosie will have a pic to match soon. Will it be Tam or will it be Halvah..... *grinning*

Tam's caught a mouse before. There were some in my house when I first moved in.

But I'd rather the mice just vacate quietly...

*fingers crossed*

I'm with you there, chica.

Although back when I had a cat, I mostly had to deal with headless lizards. (And legless as well, sometimes).

Ugh.

On balance, I think I'd rather have mice than lizards. Not sure about that, but I think so. :-)

I dunno. Lizards are smaller and they at least eat the bugs that do scare me.

Mice just live to leap out at you when you least expect it. :-)

We had a few of those when I was growing up in AZ. What was really bad was when they got away from the cat by jetissoning their tail, and ran under the bookcase, where it was nearly impossible to get them out. :-\

They'll come out eventually.

But usually it's because they've decided to skitter up the wall right behind your head. EEK!

Mr. Beepy doesn't care about other people. I would have gone up last night, but someone else already had and they were way loud and drunken-sounding. (I expect there's a beer can or two on the balcony under the snow, waiting for me to find)

Oh well, at least I don't have to put up with him this weekend.

So very cool 2J! And here am I organizing a field trip to Double Dave's Pizzaworks. Blackhawks vs pizza... that's a tough one.
