Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
And there are many paths to tread
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Just heard this on Between the Lions! I laughed all the way through it! Somebody was pretty clever to think this up, imo!
W Trouble
I got W trouble
And I know what's to blame.
It's because there's no "wuh" sound
In W's name.
I am wasted, and woeful,
And wilted and tense.
What's with W's "wuh" sound?
It doesn't make sense!
You know, M makes an "mmm" sound,
And J just goes "juh,"
And S has a "sss" sound,
And D sounds like "duh."
But there's no "wuh" in "double-u"
And, tell me please,
Why a letter called "double-u"
Looks like two Vs.
I got W trouble
I worry and weep.
I am worn out and weary
And I'm losing sleep.
But I won't lose my will,
No, whatever it takes,
I'll remember the "wuh" sound
That W makes!
I'll remember the "wuh" sound
That W makes!

It is clever, but the title sounds like something Howard Dean would say. :-P

Actually it reminds me of the songs about the alphabet they do on Sesame Street!

Finally heard from SirKit this afternoon. That last call from him was from the plane, and he didn't get a chance to say anything before the flight attendant asked him to turn it off because they wanted to get outta Dodge! He slept fitfully on the flight, and got into SeaTac about 3:30 or 4am Seattle time. Then he drove to the hotel where they informed him that, since he hadn't shone up by midnight, and hadn't called to cancel, or anything, they charged our credit card and gave his room to someone else. After some discussion, they did give him a suite and charged him $40 more a night than the other room would have been.
When I heard this I went ballistic and told him make sure to inform them that I told the lady taking the reservation that he likely wouldn't be there until well after 1:30 or 2 in the morning because his flight was delayed, and she said that she would inform the folks working at that time that it was OK that he came in late. He will go back down to talk to them tonight, and if they don't take the extra charge off, he's going to inform the business travel service about this abuse of their customers. It would be a major crimp in their business because they are only a couple of miles from the *ahem* MAJOR computer components company for whom he works, and that fact is noted on their website. He was too tired to fool with them this morning. He did get a little bit of a nap before he had to go in for meetings this morning.
He's still planning on dropping by tomorrow morning, Hair. He's looking forward to it!

Good grief! of all the long nights and bad customer service!
We'll have coffee... How does he take his coffee, will he like strong espresso like a latte or mocha, or will he like just regular drip coffee and sweet creamer?

He likes it pretty strong, though maybe not as strong as espresso, and if you have milk that will be fine. He'll have some Splenda with him to sweeten it.

Yeah well, he'll have the last laugh if they don't set it right. He's a soft spoken guy, but you DO NOT want to mess with him! ;o)

Like a traveler needs a hassle like that after all the delays. Have him talk to the manager. Have the manager address him as Dr. SirKit.

We're watching Olympic curling.
What a peculiar sport. Strangely entertaining.
Reminds me of tiddlywinks.
