Canceled permanently, I guess.
You know, Tam woke me up early, and there was the most gorgeous sunrise I've ever seen here. Bright reds and oranges. And you know the old saying...
So maybe we really will get snow!
Well...since no one is coming to get the bed, maybe I'll go off questing for rope. What kind would work best for that, I wonder?
Something we can tie! Dunno... clothesline, maybe?
Would clothesline be strong enough?
Home Depot has rope of various kinds, right?
Lots and lots of clothesline would probably be strong. Yup, Home Depot has rope. Hmmm... why don't you wait, eventually somebody here will tell you exactly what sort of rope to get.
Yah...elven rope. ;-)
Elven rope would work ;~D
Well, I'm back from the vets with the kitten. The operating vet thinks it's a seroma (the fluid serum part of blood) between the skin and abdominal wall, and that it will go down by itself, but she has a 103 temp, so they started her on the bubble gum antibiotics.
Thank you all, I hope he's right and it goes down without more troubles. She's not all that fond of the drops... it's gonna take a towel to dose her, she got me with a back foot pretty good when I was tryin' to hold her for it at the clinic. ;~D
I didn't think it was too bad a scratch, but the vet made me wash it up good put a band-aid on me, said "trust me, I'm a doctor".
Mr. Beepy.
Oh, wait...this is the real world.
Actually, I want to tie my bike to the roof rack somehow.
How long do they think it will take to go back down? What if it gets worse?
Ugh...drops. Halvah was the worst with those. You can tie her up in a towel and even get another person to hold her head, and she'll STILL find a way to either twist away, bite, or just plain spit.
Let's tie Mr. Beepy to the bike rack! You can cut him down somewhere in Idaho. He'll never bother either of us ever again.
Right... while clothesline might work, I think you'll find better poly rope at the hardware store...
If you look at the route map I posted, there are little crescent moon icons where it thinks you should stop for the night.
Hang on a few ... I'll go fiddle some more.
Letting him off in Utah might be more amusing, though.
I imagine the average decent Mormon isn't gonna like Mr. Beepy's potty mouth.
It might take a week to go back down... but shouldn't get bigger or I'll take her in.
Poly rope? That's what the fibers are made of, right?
It's a bit tricky, I guess. Need something that isn't going to stretch a lot - really don't need it coming slightly loose and banging around for half the trip - but at the same time, it can't be brittle.
I'd think a 3/8" nylon rope would work well. It won't fray like a cotton rope would. Just try several of them on their rolls in the store to see if a knot will hold well. You might have to burn the cut ends so they don't unravel. Get enough to go around the bike several times, wrapping around the roof rack and the center bar of the bike each time around. You might also tie it at least once, front to back. That way, it won't shift around up there when you're doing full speed on the highway.
Get plenty of rope, and maybe in two or three long pieces. Then we can tie it down several times and give it some extra stability.
Ah, I see 'em now. Looks like the points I picked weren't all THAT far off from what they estimate, were they?
I like Home Depot ...
Suzi's right...I may need to fuse the ends with a lighter or some such. You know, come to think of it, the rope my brother's used for building various things in scouting was probably just the sort of rope I need. It was nylon, I think. Not super heavy, but strong and easy to work with. They used to have bits of it all over the house for practicing knots.
