Sounds like a plan!
'D' is for Diploma ;D
Not in grad school... you're a bad influence, you know.
How cute! Love those boys. ;-)
Great pics of the derby 2J! :~D
Oh, is that why? Hmm, good to know.
Class time... yay...
Well, I'm off to pick up Tweek...
Joseph came in third in our troop one year. No one was more surprised than he, I can tell you!
Hon, please try not to feel like a failure. Chalk it up to a risk taken that didn't pan out, and look forward to the next adventure. Happens to folks all the time. I know that doesn't make you feel better, right now, but it's just one thing in the grand scheme of life.
Great pics. Tell Steve I want to know his secrets for building a winning car...I've got another ~six~ years of this...
Lemme just say that not doing homework has become a considerable stress factor for Jr....
Hope she's not too groggy! I know it's been awhile, but even so...
Yah, I know. Just doesn't help to read threads where folks call anyone who can't get SOME sort of job in a matter of days losers and lazy bums and leeches and such like.
But in a few months, it may all be past memory! And honestly, without this year, I wouldn't have been ready to move anywhere else. I guess I can think of it as another boot camp in life. ;-)
OK, mailed out one job application and one box o' books, deposited the check for the desk, and stopped by AAA. Turns out I shoulda gone to AAA a week ago, as they can order a trip map and all that, but it takes five to ten business days to get to me. Doesn't do me much good.
So I guess I gotta go back to the library one of these days to do some map printing. *sigh* Any advice on the best map sites would be appreciated! I think we used Mapquest for the trip out here, but it was a straighter shot than this was. Also didn't let us know about construction areas or anything, which would have been nice.
I do need to figure out more or less where I'm stopping. And I'm thinking I'll probably do the three day version of the trip. Two days doesn't leave any room for error.
You can go to the AAA website and print out your own map. You can choose how much detail you want to include.
I did that for travel to Entmoot.
Yeah, well, consider the sources of those stupid statements.
Last year was a real adventure for you, and I think you did well, regardless of the job situation!
My secret was to load the car with lead. My dad and I drilled long holes lengthwise into the car from the back and slip in those long pencil-type fishing leads.
Then, when raceday came, we took along a drill... used ~their~ weigh-in scale before the race and started drilling up through the bottom of the car, drilling out lead until the car was just ~barely~ at the weight limit.
We also polished the axle nails and the inside of the wheels, and squirted some graphite on them just before the race.
It was a killer. :-)
I'll give that a shot. I looked into it awhile back and it seemed kinda complicated...but I didn't play with it as much as I shoulda. Thanks for the tip.
Can you save routes? If I could do that, I could configure it all here before going to the library, rather than having to fiddle with the computers there.
I'm gonna have to put more effort into it next time. I got pretty good with Jr's but that's been 5-6 years.
I think you can set up your trip and save it to return later.
I liked it because you can pick out your stops or possible stops along the way. Should show you hotels, etc.
It takes a bit of time, but I think it's better than Mapquest or Mapblast.
