My secret was to load the car with lead. My dad and I drilled long holes lengthwise into the car from the back and slip in those long pencil-type fishing leads.
Then, when raceday came, we took along a drill... used ~their~ weigh-in scale before the race and started drilling up through the bottom of the car, drilling out lead until the car was just ~barely~ at the weight limit.
We also polished the axle nails and the inside of the wheels, and squirted some graphite on them just before the race.
It was a killer. :-)
I'm gonna have to put more effort into it next time. I got pretty good with Jr's but that's been 5-6 years.
Ramius, that is very similar to what Steve did...he drilled long holes lengthwise and left drill bits in them! Then the boys packed it somewhat with BBs using our postal scale. Then they painted the two holes red, they looked like taillights! They also applied quarters into drilled recessed holes and of course, the graphite!
