The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

....and they fix nitrogen.

I'd try peanuts but I'm pretty sure the squirrels would get them. And I don't think my growing season is long enough.

I found some lovely strawberries at Trader Joe's on Friday, and they were so tasty looking, I just knew I wanted to fix pancakes to go with them!

Yummy!

Ah...you'd eat 'em green, then, right?

I like those...let me know if you do grow 'em! If they're fairly easy, I'd like to try doing that. The frozen ones are awful pricey...

I've had soybeans that way a couple times - been out with friends at a Japanese place who would order them as an appetizer. I wasn't too fond of them but I can see the appeal.

Like popcorn, they're just the right size for snacking...

and snacking...and snacking....

I figure they'd be a lot healthier than some of the other snacking alternatives. :)

Maybe if I sprayed hot pepper wax on them before I planted and fertilized with bloodmeal, it'd be enough to chase the squirrels away.

Stoopid squirrels...

Wonder if there are many garden saboteur squirrels in WA.

Got some eggplant started (for the rabbits), tomatoes and peppers (for the squirrels.) Planted some hot pepper for the squirrels too. :)

Much healthier! I can definitely see the addictive side of them though they weren't quite my thing. Like potato chips, I can take them or leave them.

Now, popcorn.... mmm...

What about the birds? Aren't you going to feed the poor birds, too?

Ungh...I'm turning my room and the living room into a disaster area. Why does it make such a mess to get things organized and boxed?

Heh...I always end up feeding the bushy-tailed gray birds.

Ok! I got all the ingredients...the jar is a little jar of paste called Thai Kitchen Green Curry Paste.

Gonna go to church for a bit for the Lord's Supper, then we'll come home and I'll make it. I'll let you know!

We're testing out new wireless keyboards and mouses...

We appear to be conflicting a little with each other in that when I type, his doesn't work... we're playing a little with different channels to see if we can resolve it.

Excellent! If it's the little jar, you probably want to use less than I said. Read the instructions!

Well, I usually avoid fish on pizza - but if I had to choose dead fish versus live fish... I suppose I'd choose dead.
