The Hobbit Hole XXVII - And there are many paths to tread...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 01/16/2006 6:56:15 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

And there are many paths to tread

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Need to put my seed order in too.

Do you think the squirrels would dig up soybeans?

Eh, rain don't bother me.

So long as it doesn't bring winds over 70+ mph with it. ;-)

Mornin' Rosie.

Looks like your almost ready for your trip too.

I wish I could've postponed my trip to coincide with your arrival.

Well...it would have made things pretty complicated, especially considering monsters. Heh... So I guess things are better this way. But I really would have liked to have seen you again! Someday. Soon, hopefully!

I'm at a point where if I sell things this week and if I can get the van in for maintenance, I'll be ready in a jiffy. Got nerves, though. It's one thing to dream about (literally) greener pastures...it's another thing to actually set out for 'em. ;-) That part is getting here awfully fast!

You're right, of course. But I would have liked to help with the clean-up and settling in.

Have to wait for the GardenMoot! ;-)

You boil them for a couple of minutes (in salted water) and eat the beans for a snack.

I went through a whole bag of frozen soybeans yesterday afternoon.

Just got in from Mass. SirKit must have stayed up vey late last night, cause when I got up to go to Choir practice, the coffee was almost gone. Got one cup, now I gotta make another pot!

The rest of the family slept in. Clare had a bit of a sore throat so she didn't feel like doing choir this morning. They can go to 5:30 Mass. I'm thinking I'll do pancakes and sausage for brunch. I found some lovely strawberries at Trader Joe's on Friday, and they were so tasty looking, I just knew I wanted to fix pancakes to go with them!

Soybeans are a vey tasty snack. I'd never had them fresh, boiled from the pod until we went to Japan this past summer.

mrsnad's cousin, a Marine Cobra pilot, is flying combat missions in Iraq right now...

Why haven't we sent him a Gerber pilot knife yet? Although no Marine can have too many knives.
