Re: Esquire's list of best songs ... I seem to be woefully behind the times. I recognize exactly *one* of the songs on that list! LOL! Don't look for post-20th-century advice from this old fogey.... :)

Last season I remember Carrie hit one out of the park. She sounded and looked amazing. Paula did not get up and dance like she had done to a few other performances that night, she did not smile during her remarks, and said, "I don't think this was your best performance. You hit a few bad notes. It was just okay." In Paulaese= "I'm so jealous that I've gone as green as Frankenstein's wife."

Not only is she doped up all the time, but she has lost her objectivity. She's becoming more of a liability than an asset.

The three suggested that I like the best are Blondie, Cher and Dolly. Maybe they could alternate them for a couple of weeks and let the voters decide, like they do the contestants.

LOL! Alan Jackson's "Where Were You?" written after 9/11 would be good for a country voice.

Well, I disagree. I like her. I think she makes a good balance and also adds some goofiness and fun/funny lightening up.

Simon is my favorite, and IMO, the most honest and the one that keeps the contestants striving. But he is abrasive, and most of the contestants are pretty young. It has to be very hard to stand there in front of the world and be critiqued like that:). So for me, I'm glad there is someone like Paula to kind of balance out. I think most of the contestants know not to take her comments to seriously with the exception that Kevin might have:). But he's gone.

Any way, I have to say they have an amazing dynamic with the judges they have. I'd hate to see her go.

Becky

9. In The End - Linkin Park

That would be an interesting choice for Chris. The verse is more rap(ish) but the chorus just belts. I would love to see the reaction if he chose this song.

LOL, well I'm an old fogey:). I'm not looking forward to next week. My husband and I have discussed numerous times how sad it will be that the kids now a days won't know the joy of "Golden Oldies". LOL, nothing golden about the music over most of the last 6 years, with the exception of "some" country. Country now a days, in my opinion is closer to "that old time rock n roll":)

We could write a Paula dictionary.

"You look fabulous!"= You sucked

"That wasn't very good" = You really, really sucked.

Yeah, if Paula says that to you, you have redefined the word sucked.

I would love for Blondie to do the show. But I don't think they will be getting rid of Paula, unless she were to go willingly. Last year's embarrassment with Corey? would have been means to get rid of her, but they didn't. And her behavior was bizarre even then. Also, isn't that the same year the hit and run incident ocurred. So she either is carrying some clout with the show or they fear a backlash with a fan base.

Can you imagine?

Her raunchy scratchy voice, screeching at the contestants that they suck and then playing a tune on her accordian for them? Kinda funny I think :)

Yeah. LOL

It would be hard to be as rude as Simon is sometimes, but she could probably pull it off. :)

At least it would do away with Paula's always nicey nice comments to the contestant.

Having her doped up, slurring her words, and not making sense doesn't do anyone a favor, including the contestants and the audience.

How about 'Walk Away' or 'Since U Been Gone' for Hickler.
