He doesn't seem to get it. I once sat and folded clothes for thirty minutes without responding to much of his conversation. He took a seat and watched me fold clothes. That was weird!

1. You are hot.

2. He needs to be near adults. I went through such a phase when I was that age and my Mom was working (not her choice and a long story for another time). It is hard to describe the need, but being near adults and talking about nothing with them seems to fill the need.

Are you high? Do you know technically difficult that song was?

Extremely difficult. We have to give Elliot props for taking on a tough tough song and hitting it in all the right places.

It took guts to sing that song. He could have chosen a CGFB song but he went for it instead.

You all are great! Even though I missed it all, great thread! One of my dogs, Tiki, gashed his side open right before 7 tonight...so, we spent 3 hours at the emergency vet clinic. yuck

I'm sad Taylor didn't do too well. And I can't imagine Gherkin doing Patsy Cline...I adore Patsy Clines music...just can't picture it.

And the adorable baby pics! Stop! I want to be a grandma sooooo bad! And all I get are dogs and cats...grrrrrrrrrr!

Again, thanks for the great descriptions. Hopefully, I'll be here tomorrow for the "toss off" show! :-)

I normally just lurk here after the show is over, since I can't watch and Freep at the same time (TV in other room). I agree with the majority about some of the top four--Chris, Mandisa, Katherine, Taylor.

We (my family) voted for Chris, Mandisa, and Katherine.

I thought Kellie Pickler did pretty well. She really worked the stage tonight. lol.

Speaking of Kellie, it is Kellie that Constantine is dating. They met at an AI cast party.

My guess for bottom three: Bucky, Lisa, Chicken Little (please let the little guy go. I don't know how much more of him I can take!)

Hey SJ, oh exalted leader of the FR AIers - I'm late to the party tonight due to work. Just got done watching it on tape:

I agree my man Taylor was too cheesy tonight, but still good enough to survive and advance. I like his spontaneous "dancing" when it is a part of the overall song performance, but tonight it was far too much strutting and not enough vocal, just like Simon said. He still has some great nights ahead of him though I think, and his popularity is immense. His likability allows him to get away with stuff others could not. That said, he neeeds to stick with good song choices and showcase that "whiskey tenor" of his.

Chris - once again made the song his own. He comes off like a pro. Definitely ready for the big time. Not a bad performance yet out of him, which keeps him on top.

Paris - don't like her personality, but she is good. Real good.

Mandisa - sure can sing, and knows her business up there. Has a chance to win this thing, but hope she's not a Rubenette.

Pickler and Covais did better than I expected. I think Lisa is cute as a button and definitely talented. She doesn't seem to have her own fan base though, and will likely be gone in the next few weeks, though her career will just be starting (Broadway bound?)

I don't have McFever, and think the judges overrated her performance. Ace is back to his ol' stomach-rubbing, falsetto self, which should keep him alive.

Elliot is an enigma - very good voice, seems quite likable, but somehow not connecting. Strange. Last but not least, Bucky will likely be gone. Nice guy and gives it his all, but I'd be surprised if he is not the one leaving tomorrow. Then again we've all been surprised before!

Have a good day and catch up to ya tomorrow night!

Eddie VanH had cancer, it may be still fighting it.
That is why he looks so bad now.

The West Coast wrapup!
(A little shorter this week since I cut my hand last night -- 3 stitches = less typing!!!)

Mandisa: Awesome, baby! A polished, perfect performance. (A number of busy signals when I called to vote.)

Bucky: Poor guy. Looked like stage fright to me. Say "Bye bye," Fluffy.

Paris: Why am I just not excited about this girl? Her best perfomrance to date, though.

Chris: The whole was greater than the parts. Opening section too low for him, missed notes, but sexy as hell when he jumped up the octave. Cool arrangement. Overall a memorable performance, though admittedly not his best. When is he touring here...?

McPhee: Best performance to date. Looked spectacular, sounded great. But missed the freakin' POINT of the song! That is NOT a happy song and she was Miss Smiley all the way through.

Taylor: Good (not excellent) rendition of a boring song. Liked his stage business. Get a better song next time, Bubba.

Lisa: Quite competent but boring as usual. Go do musicals, Lisa.

Kevin: Wow, Manilow dragged his best performance to date out of him. Whatcha got in the pocket, Kev?

Elliot: Keep the hair stylist, FIRE the clothing stylist. Is that your daddy's tie or what? Otherwise, his most relaxed and engaging performance so far. His voice is sounding furry, though: a warning signal. Elliot needs to get more rest so that his voice doesn't conk out on him (if anyone who knows him just, ahem, happens to be reading this ... :)

Gherkin: Has found her true trailer park persona at last. A good performance but not my style.

Ace: Not the train wreck of last week, at least. Can't see what Paula was so excited about, though.

It was great seeing Manilow work with the singers. It seemed like most of them got a lot out of it. For me personally, it was a real blast from the past when they showed the montage of all his old pics ... I had SUCH a crush on him when I was 14!! LOL! (That was before my gaydar had begun functioning.) And I remembered ALL of those old publicity stills. Yikes. What I waste my brain cells on ....

Overall, a much more interesting show than last week. I pick Bucky to go, with Lisa in the bottom 3 again.

I would buy a cd of his. :)

Me too, definately.

Elliott looked so much more confident tonight.

I like his lack of flash
And his subtleties.

I would so like to see him last long enough on AI, to perform two songs in one show. Wasn't it great to see how Randy and Simon truly appreciate his ability to tackle difficult songs?

(Chris) I already have his short album on order (w/ Absent Element) and I cannot wait until he cuts his first single or album after American Idol.

Hey, give us a review of the album when you get it, would you? I might buy that if it's good.

Re the neighbor kid ... he's probably getting zero attention at home, to the point where he'll sit and watch you fold clothes instead. Sad, really. Do you know his parents?

I like Taylor too, but...There was nothing redeemable about his performance tonight.

Jonny, you're good at studying faces.

Have you noticed Taylor's eyes?
They don't seem to smile.

Most entertaining show so far. I guess a fair amount of the credit goes to Manilow who seemed really helpful to the contestants.

1. Chris(I'm a Johnny Cash fan and that worked really well for Daughtry)
2. Mandisa(Consistently at or near the top of heap every week)
3. Katherine(Finally beginning to show a hint of emotion)
4. Paris(Best she's done in a while)
5. Elliot(Seemed less detached than usual.)
6. Ace(Not a great singer but gets points for trying to put a new spin on an old standard)
7. Bucky(Occasionally sounds like a countrified Springsteen. Starting to look forward to hearing him sing each week.)
8. Taylor(SOMEBODY help him select better songs!)
9. Kevin(Not as entertaining as last week. Thankfully.)
10. Kellie(Did better than I expected but swallowed the end of some of the lines of lyrics. Missed the underlying melancholy that Saint Patsy brings to that song.)
11. Lisa(Ah, Lisa. I don't know what went wrong with that. It just lacked.)

Prediction--Lisa gets voted off, not because she's the worst(she isn't) but because she doesn't stand out enough.

(re the hand) Heh, heh ... thanks! It already feels better than this morning. It was pretty funny when we went to the emergency room, actually. The triage nurse took one look and said, "Avocado pit?" And it was! LOL!
