I don't know. I was thinking something upbeat like Run Around Sue. That would be a break from what he has been doing.
Look, long term he's going to be singing Jazz and R&B tunes. Plenty of money to be made there.

Who advises the contestants on song choice? I know some of them like Katharine and Paris have their own personal voice coaches, but what about those like Bucky and Elliott?
Song choice is so important.
Maybe Manilow will help the guys out on this.

They have a list to choose from but it's theirs to make. They do have people from AI who will work with them but under no circumstances can they tell them what they should sing.

Oh, and the last thing Elliott and Buckey need advice from is Barry. Elliott picked a Bryan Adams song and while he did a good job with it is was still a bad song to work with. He needs to move on past ballads for a while.
I don't see Bucky doing a ballad either.

I watched this show tonight and thought it was very good. I can't wait to watch the next segment.
To: misterrob
You know, at first I was thinking that "Runaround Sue" would be an awful choice for Elliot, since it has about a five-note range, but then I realized that the "whoa-whoa-whoa" sections could really give him a chance to do some cool jazzy riffs, maybe even travel up an octave for the next phrase or something. That would be showy! (Which is what he needs at the moment.) They're always telling the contestants to "put their own stamp" on a song ....

I suppose we could have a lively debate over whom TexasFlower would be backing this year. I've been thinking about her a lot.
She didn't care much for rock (or maybe just Bo), so probably would've preferred Taylor and Elliott over Chris.
I think she might've liked Ace also, and would NOT have liked seeing him, or any other contestant, trashed.
I miss her scoldings!

Also, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all that, but I don't agree with those who think Hickler is beautiful. Cute, yet. Beautiful? Not even close. She's certainly attractive, but she isn't "all that". Of the top-6 girls, I'd certainly prefer a Katherine, or even Melissa -- all the right curves in all the right places.

G'ace looked better in the bigfoot costume. It was more masculine than he'll ever look on stage.

McPhee makes a hot park ranger :) Yeah, but you could just say:

And fill in the blank with anything. :)

Sorry to see Melissa go, i love her looks and that smoky voice, but realistically she committed the cardinal sin of singing -- Never ever forget your lyrics. I didn't even notice she botched the lyrics. I had mentally tuned her out by then she was singing so poorly.

Pee Wee remains for the same reason that Scott Savol remained last year--the sympathy vote. Yeah, but Slingblade actually could sing well (when his dad wasn't in the audience).

Any idea why DialIdol got closed down and VoteForTheWorst didn't? Seems odd. Probably because of the use of DialIdol's automated dialing program.

Who is that??? YIKES That's socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein. She's had more plastic surgery than even she remembers--and the ironic thing is, she wasn't bad looking to start with.
And now ...
Apparently she wanted to look that way! :o

Manatee-sa won't make the final 3. McPhee will. I think she's a HUGE talent(no pun intended)...but I don't see these superficial voters going for a female Rueben. Not only that, but I'm still waiting to hear Mandisa do anything other than "belt". Compare to Jennifer Hudson two years ago -- she went out at #7 or so because there was no versatility.

Comparing her to the other precocious 16 year old from season 3 --- Diana Degarmo, Lisa loses Quite probably, but from my standpoint, DeGarmo is my personal favorite from any Idol I've watched (seasons 3, 4, and now 5), so that's a high standard in my book.

She reminds me of this girl from House. Probably the hair? And the cheekbones.
