That one is a classic, too! Every time my friend and I have a really silly memory lapse we will say, "Hey! It's Tony Randall!" and it still cracks us up every time.

The kids are all trying so hard, here's giving them a thumbs up for being good troopers!

That said, I'll be disappointed (and bored silly) if Ace, Lisa and Chris don't make it to the top three.

Granted, the one where he's on a date is quite funny too, and I had forgotten about it.

He's all why am I here? Then he starts in on his date, because he forgets he's on a date and doesn't remember who she is. Then he goes after the waiter, because he doesn't remember ordering and suddenly he gets food.

The funniest I think in that skit, was when he's eating the food, and suddenly he's all "I have food in my mouth...how did food get in my mouth", then spits it out and gets mad at the waiter for bringing him a plate of already chewed food.

Tom Hanks NEEDS to go back and do MORE comedy. He's good at drama, but I miss him SO much doing the comedy movies.

She reminds me of this girl from House. Probably the hair?

Comparing her to the other precocious 16 year old from season 3 --- Diana Degarmo, Lisa loses ( BTW, Diana is now a celebrated star on Broadway in the hit -- HAIRSPRAY. In fact, her name alone is drawing crowds ).

That's great to hear. I thought someone said taht she has another CD coming out, too? I think she should have won. I wonder how her sales are, compared to fantasia.

Good morning, Jonny. As of a few minutes ago, this thread has gotten 101,487+ views.

Melissa going was, obviously, no surprise. Kevin should have gone, though.

Can't say I'm surprised that Ace and Lisa were in the bottom three. Ace has been totally uninteresting for weeks, now.

As for Lisa, the hype about her having performed since childhood doesn't help her (Lion King, etc.). Expectations may have been too high for her. She is a truly stunning girl who only has a small singing talent. She would have been better off not entering Idol, but using her connections in the business to get acting gigs.

In my opinion, this is the weakest group of finalists in AI history. Even though I didn't like him at first, I find myself drawn more and more to Taylor for two reasons: he's been the most consistent performer, and he comes across as genuine. He doesn't have a top-notch voice, but he gives everything he has to the audience, and that's what show business is all about.

I do like Elliott and Mandisa because they also seem very genuine, but don't see either of them winning the competition.

All of the others -- and I do mean all of them -- don't appeal to me for one reason or another.

I don't think there's any question at this point that, strictly going by vocals, Katharine is heads and shoulders over everyone in the competition. But I don't like her for the same reason I couldn't connect with Carrie last year. Katharine is mechanical, robotic. She sings to herself. For proof, all one needs to do is compare her beautifully sung, but dull performances to Taylor's.

Chris, the other top contender, has been losing appeal for me. He comes across to me as a limited vocalist and performer with a grim personality.

Ok, 50's Songs eh? Hopefully they won't all do freakin' ballads....I pray for up beat songs mostly, but that's just my preference and I think the songs end up coming out better, imo...

I predict following(?), but I could be off:

Don't Be Cruel and/or Hound Dog (Bucky?)

It's All in the Game (Elliott?)

Mack the Knife or You Send Me or Chantilly Lace (Taylor?) I can totally see him doing Chantilly Lace...

Unforgettable (probably Kevin will do this one **guffaw**)

Only You or Earth Angel (Ace?)

Hot Diggity or Jailhouse Rock or Great Balls of Fire(Chris?)

Ain't That A Shame or Fever (Mandesa?)

Mr. Sandman (Katherine)

something from Patsy Cline? (Kellie)

When I Fall in Love (Lisa or Paris?)

Whatever Will Be, Will Be (Que Sera, Sera) (Paris)

Please no one sing Unchained Melody, pleeeeeease.

BTW, Jonny. Supposedly next week's theme is music from the 1950's. I wonder if anyone will do THE original rock anthem, "Rock Around The Clock."

Oh, and maybe we could get the Gherkin to do a version of "Sincerely."

Maybe Taylor could do a verison of Patsy Cline's classic "Crazy" (covered by many other artsts through the years, both men and women). Perfect opportunity to whip out that harmonica.

Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.

Update On Idol:

Next week's show is, according my various sources, BARRY MANABLOW theme. Everyone is supposed to go to Vegas to work with him. Stevie Wonder is a force in music and whether or not you like him, he has been a powerhouse in soul, pop and r&b. Barry???? Ugh

Also....for all of you out there voting for Kevin, you have created a monster. The kid is growing a huge head and he does think he is special and not to mention, a sex symbol. His parents think they have royalty in their family now.

Ace was floored after the voting the other night. Also have been told that he is a pretty good guy and well liked by the other contestants and people around the show. Very polite and a lot of fun.

The guys really liked Melissa...term "great rack" was used a lot. They were sorry to see her go.

The AI contestants are fairly well "kept". No going anywhere without escorts, two contestants snuck out for a night on the town, got caught and were threatened with dismissal if they did it again. AI seems rather protective of their investment.

Bucky is pretty much what you see is what you get. Very, very affable and a humble man.

More as it becomes available.....

I know, I don't think ANYONE can do Patsy justice...there just isn't any like her...

But what else could Kellie sing? There aren't many songs that would fit her, imo, from the 50's anyway.

Thanks for the backstage info! Keep it coming! :)

Have to differ with you about Manilow. Granted, he has always been a very MOR singer (many would say sappy or worse), but what the man doesn't know about the industry would probably fit in a thimble, and he's one of the all-time best-ever song arrangers. (And arrangments are life's blood to a singer -- a good one can make you sound tremendous and a bad one can make you sound like ****.) They could learn a LOT from him, if they actually get to talk with him, and have the brains to know what to ask.

I'm glad Ace seems to have heard the wakeup call. I actually think he does have *some* talent under that pretty facade. He needs to realize what he can do (straightforward singing like "Father Figure") and what he can't (anything involving vocal agility -- he just doesn't have it) and what he SHOULDN'T do (anything that makes him sound effeminate). I made the comment after he sang "Father Figure" that the contest was his to lose -- and he's been proving me right, steadily losing it! LOL!

Hope Elliot got your message that he needs a showcase song! I'd like to see him continue in the contest as long as possible.
