Very weird game so far but New England should win this one as they are controlling the ball so far and that Jacksonville QB looks lost out there.

You said exactly what I was going to counter with.

The schools and particularly the ADs and conference Presidents have all the power in football in D-1A. It's the only one of it's kind.

And it's only real connection to the NCAA is that it's played by college players.

The head of the BCS isn't the guy that makes that decision. It's the NCAA that makes that decision and they will never go for a playoff, there's too many teams that'll lose too much money.

I'm quite certain that the head of the BCS is on the same page as the NCAA. Since you claim that you don't watch college football perhaps you are unaware of how many big time coaches (from Mack Brown to Lloyd Carr to Bobby Bowden) who have switched views and are now in favor of a playoff. The school presidents are still a problem, but we are moving towards a muting of that. Just like the BCS and the 1/2 matchup was a step(creating a 2 team playoff), so is the post-BCS 1/2 bowl (creating a 4 team playoff), as will the inevitable next step (2 on campus games in between creating an 8 team playoff.)

Please explain how in the post-bowls 3 game playoff extension I've outlined will lose ANY school money. In fact it will increase the TV contract money, which is spread among the conferences and schools.

They are not even close to last year...and Indy,Den,Pitt are as good as the Pats were, last year. I'm not delusional! They will have an incredibly tough time..if they even make it to the AFC title game.

I've been fine & dandy....how about yourself?
I know Seattle will most likely beat the Redskins, but I can dream, right? I did predict at the start of the season that they would go 10-6 & everyone called me crazy. I may be crazy, but I was correct. It was a lucky guess....I just wish I would have bet some money on it.

Of course even if the NCAA really were in charge it wouldn't be any better. Looked at the list of things they decided they hold copyright to during March Madness recently? If you own a business in a town that's hosting games you can't use any depiction of anything that looks vaguely like a playoff tree in your adds or the NCAA will come down on you with both feet. They're psychotic.

the NCAA doesn't regulate who gets into what bowl games. That is between the conferences, their deals with certain bowl games, and the committees that select the teams formed by those bowl games.

If there were to be a playoff, the power for such would reside with the BCS committee at this time.

The NCAA generally forms a committee in certain sports to selected who gets into a tournament (basketball for instance, Hockey for another).

yep.

It's going to have to be the BCS that gets it right, because if it comes under the purview of the NCAA, it will be completely screwed.
