How about Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy with the crying baby logo? That'd be cool ;-)
That seems like a great idea, if we have to rename (do we if we use a disclaimer mentioned earlier?), and we get everyone to go along. I also prefer the crying baby logo.

Ach!
Not 222 points, 222 atoms....166 points. Still cool.

I'm getting 35s/frame. It's a WU from p2071, expected to complete tomorrow morning.

I like it too! The crying baby logo is excellent. And I love Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

Because we can't rename and keep the stats, you'd have to start from 0 if using a new name.According to Senator, we would start at zero. All these units would be for naught if we changed to entire name.

We would be starting at zero if we did that.

The name can be changed, but a new team number cannot be set up. That is where we would lose our points. If you look at the other FR team, we changed its name.

Good, I was starting to sweat. Thanks.

No, no - you keep all the points after the name change. In fact, the name's already been changed, and we're still truckin' along, so it's all good :)
To: Senator Bedfellow
This is actually a lemonade out of lemons situation then.
We change the name to "The Vast Right Wing Conspiracy", use crying baby logo instead of free republic logo. Points are maintained.
Papa Smurf wins because this actually has much broader appeal than the free republic name -- there are many right additional right wing conspiracy(heh) sites out there which would be willing to contribute. Problem solved as far as I am concerned.
Only thing is we'd have to keep a lower profile here, does that only mean avoiding technical group, or does that mean no posting on this subject here at all?
To: Senator Bedfellow
Thanks, that had me scared.

I recommend chat or blog or smokybackroom as the only places. Just staying out of everyone's way and using individual pings for attention would be best.

We can change the team name and logo (and keep all the stats).
We cannot change the team # (36120) without losing all stats.

Please explain to me why we should be competing with DU and DailyKos Obviously, you never took time to read the history of our folding team.
DU and Kos started their teams to compete with us because they had a hard time believing that "idiot Freepers" can do more good than they can. The pure fact that they started their teams to copy us is a good indication that we were doing a great thing.
As for privacy - do you think Intel, Apple, Google, HP, IBM, etc. would encourage their employees to sign up for Folding@Home if they were concerned about privacy? Seriously . . .
