Also, the people getting their panties in a knot miss the whole point of the episode. It's not making fun of Catholics, it's making fun of people who worship "miraculous" idols. There have been plenty of stories recently about people worshipping images of Mary, in grilled cheese, or weeping statues, and people flock to them.
Finally, let's get this out of the way: South Park has made fun of Muslims, also, so you can put that old canard away instead of repeating the lie on every thread. Dirka Dirka Dirka.

The Comedy Channel decides whether to replay it or not, and they decided not to. They decide what to show on their channel, and no one else does. They voted, and not many other votes on the subject really count do they. That's that.
If people could simply learn to laugh at themselves, the world would be a much better place. Unfortunately, too many liberals AND conservatives have yet to learn this.
Ping!
South park insults everybody. If they have their way, I wouldn't be surprised if they come up with an episode making fun of the people who complain about it.
Excellent news. I'm sure all the Conservative in Name Only South Park defenders on this site will be outraged. I also look for this thread to be taken off the News-Activism forum like all the other South Park threads recently.
"A repeat of the finale was scheduled to air Wednesday night, but was seemingly pulled from the Comedy Central lineup without explanation."
Simple explanation, don't air the episode, sit on it for a while and then hype it as being the "banned episode", air it again and...
$$$$$
I do too.
I've heard they have a label for it and I'd like to think I fall under the category of "south park republican".
Main qualities include.
Strong sense of sarcastic sense of humor. Can laugh at yourself. Despise Political Correctness and liberalism. Knows hollywood is full of liberal phonies and spoiled babies.
I saw that ep myself and didn't find it terribly amusing. I tend to cringe when they take thwacks at Christianity. Contrast that with their brilliant skewering of Scientology, which was one of their best eps, period.
I cant understand why anyone over 12 would watch South park to begin with. It's not funny it's garbage. But that's just my opinion.
Hey, if there are Catholics worshipping idols and icons then they should be made fun of.
When will they do a show on Mohammed? Do they dare?
Eventually, Pope Benedict XVI is called in to investigate, whereupon he determines that the statue is actually menstruating and thus is nothing special.
"A chick bleeding out her vagina is no miracle," the pope declares in the episode. "Chicks bleed out their vaginas all the time."
Appears to be rather rude and crude to me.
If I were a devout Christian, I'd be ticked off too. IMHO, they have a real good reason for being appalled and disgusted.
Mocking their knotted panties is rather lame.

You don't need to see it to condemn it. Standing up for your beliefs is better than flipping channels and remaining silent. The tension between the two extremes will eventually produce the right course.
Color me intolerant.
I'm not Catholic so I don't feel guilty in saying that presenting this image would compel me to quite possibly knock out all of someone's teeth.
Sorry folks, I've got my limits. I simply won't watch it, but I hardly blame any Christians for getting upset at this. My guess is that is there hadn't been a protest, most of them would have never known anyways.
Flame away...I'm off to a "Michael Jackson" thread to cleanse myself.
I don't have any objection to South Park at all, except this: it just isn't funny. It's puerile. I don't get it.
If its intent is to get laughs by being purely offensive and objectionable, it might appeal to some. But it's mostly toilet humor, the sort of thing that went the way of the Whoopie Cushion. This is Howard Stern stuff, with a different twist.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, that is mine. Your results may vary.
So, thanks to censorship, I don't get too see it for myself but I get to read all about it in the news and on FR and that's better?
You are right and in the end the pope sets the flock straight.
I agree. South Park is one of the few shows that is geniuinely irreverent, meaning it attacks everyone and anything. You can't cheer when they lampoon the environmental whackos and not expect them to take on Christianity or Islam or anything else.
