Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

According to the younger, nondrinking folks in the game, our whole end of the table (me, Talon, Mom, and Dad) just kept getting louder and more laughter prone. And since Talon won about half of the time when it was my turn, I got accused of cheating. However he and Dad kept winning off each other, so...
We were also accused of having secondary personalities who emerged after too much alcohol. Er. That was maybe a little weird even for my family.

Next Hobbit Hole Moot must include a round of Apples to Apples. I bet we all have each other's personalities pegged right off the bat.

According to the younger, nondrinking folks in the game, our whole end of the table (me, Talon, Mom, and Dad) just kept getting louder and more laughter prone. On one of our last nights in Tokyo, we had to go out to eat because the rental company had come in and taken the furniture they'd lent Gina, because hers was coming by ship on the day we left. We went to a little neighborhood tepanyaki place just across from the Yoyogi Uehara train station. We sat at two different tables, the 3 girls at one, Gina, her son and I at another. Gina and I started ordering beer (we weren't driving, after all), and ended up the night with 3 each. We also got louder, which is VEY unusual for a Japanese resaurant, though the little, local places tend to be more boisterous anyway. The girls kept saying we were drunk. We weren't but we were sure heading that way! Had a blast cooking our supper on the grills at the table, I can tell you!

Good to be back, Rosie!
About a drinker who won't drink and talk business, in a social situation, he's obviously a trickster, as Gollum would say. You really have to assume he is basically dishonest.
To: JenB
Oops...sorry I missed ya!
But yeah, we should definitely bring Apples to Apples to the next moot. We've got that hugh edition here - should be perfect for marathon rounds! ;-)

What's a nice gal like you doing in a place like that? :~D

OK, I need to get to bed.
-Incidentally, the military thing he's spouting is what dragged me onto the other thread he keeps referencing. Grr...I'm all for supporting our troops and veterans, but *he* doesn't deserve the title...
To: RosieCotton
Exactly.... good night. :~D

I hate it when the pointy-haired bosses pull stuff like that. I brought theworklaptop and stuff to work on home over the holidays, but I just never got to it (gee, what have I been doing?). So I signed on and did some work today whilst watching the Rose Parade.
Had an email from Rasputin regarding a request from "higher up" that came on on the 20th and was due on the 30th. I would be the keeper of that information needed, but I couldn't have done it from here anyway.
Rasputin got most of it done, but I'll have to review it in the a.m. We'll be a few days late, but fercryinoutloud...

a request from "higher up" that came on on the 20th and was due on the 30th.Now that is just plain STOOPID!! Anyone with a brain should be able to figure out that not much work at all will get done during that 10-12 day time period!

Not yet. Let me just say that thus far my day is unspoiled by irksome-types and by extension, my YEAR is unspoiled ... so far.
It's kinda nice. :)
