Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

What are you going to go see?
I think tomorrow I'm either going to go see Narnia again, or else watch King Kong, depending on how long I decide I'm willing to sit still!
To: osagebowman
What time should I be at your place?
To: RosieCotton
Narnia--3 hours of Kong is a little too long.

Yup. He got a Mr. Beer kit for Christmas. I figgured it was a good place to start. He can upgrade when he outgrows it. I have dreams of someday ownin' enough land to grow my own grapes for my own wine. But that may just have to be a dream.
Spent the afternoon gettin' leaves out of the driveway. Then I moved the bulbs and iris what would be in the way of thenaybersnewfence if'n they ever get it built.
The bulbs were already growing. I prolly kilt them and the iris. One things fer sure. If the iris don't bloom this season, I'm givin' up on 'em.
To: Corin Stormhands
Heck! Those iris I got from OB and LSA are putting out leaves fercryinoutloud. Think I overmulched some pansies...oh well. I can always fill in when spring comes. Got one daffodil with leaves up.
To: Overtaxed
Speaking of, when we took Gyps for a walk earlier this week we saw violets blooming in among the dried leaves.

I'd like to try my hand at wine someday, though I may or may not live anywhere conducive to grape growing. They sell kits that use concentrated grape juice. Of course, at that point...you're hardly doing any of the wine making, but still...it'd be something.
The Hobbit Hole compound should have extensive vinyards...
To: osagebowman
I've got pansies blooming....the ones that weren't overwhelmed by the mulch. My dandelions are blooming.
To: Corin Stormhands
How much wine are you talking about? We get enough grapes from our two scuppernong vines to make quite a few gallons of wine. Heck, we even get a gallon of grapes from that poor, struggling concord vine.
I'm thinking of planting a couple of concord vines here....bet the squirrels would love them.
To: Overtaxed
I don't know. Haven't really thought it through. I haven't gotten any grapes off of my vine here yet.

Sam,
Jeanne has our prayers... take good care of her my friend...

Hmmmm.....if the car guy overfilled the oil, would it result in an oil spot under my car?
