Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I've got my peas and collards cookin' now although I'm still full from LSAggie's most excellent spread. I expect I'll ..umm...empty out enough for peas and collards by 7-ish or so.

It was an awesomely fun call. My family was listening in. All I did was turn her comments around on her. They were amused. I'll give you more details next time we talk. She only developed the photos because she thought it was the roll with my uncle in them. She was not at all amused by the bad photos. Heh.
Hmm, yup, forgot to renew my 'goody-two-shoes' card. Oh darn. ;-D

Heh, that's the way to 'celebrate diversity'; don't recall being exposed to that particular graphic during my diversity and sensitivity seminar. (Which, by the way, does not appear to have 'fallen on fertile ground' in my case). :-)

We thoroughly enjoyed Narnia, it was very well done. Very glad we saw it on the big screen. It might be a bit dark for the very young, but was an excellent story, viewable as either a fantasy movie or an allegorical movie.
Never read the books before, but glad I read the Magicians' Nephew before seeing Narnia. It made much more sense, having that background. Question - how come no pegasuses, pegasi?

Ya know, I still have very mixed feelings about the way current publishers put Magician's Nephew before The Lion et al. I know chronologically it comes first...but that isn't how they were written!
Glad you liked the movie! It isn't on the same level of LOTR, as I said (I will never cease to be amazed at the detail put into The Movies), but very well done. I really hope they do go ahead with the rest of the books!

Thanks! I think it came out pretty nice, even if it's just a real simple thing. The yarn is the trick. ;-)
To: RosieCotton
I showed the pic to my mom. She says the scarf is pretty, but you're prettier. ;-)

Just finished my Black Eye Peas and Cornbread. SirKit hasn't even eaten yet. He's trying to install the Pot Rack I bought for myself for Christmas. ;o). Unfortunately, he can't find the ceiling joists in the bump out in the kitchen. Either the builder put them more like 24" or 36" on center, or he just flat out forgot one. Neither would surprise us; we have experienced too many incidents of construction wierdness over the almost 18 years we've been here to be surprised anymore.
That's the main reason SirKit wants to build the addition ourselves. He just does not TRUST anyone else to do it correctly!

Your mom is quite the flatterer!
Have a good day? I spent most of the afternoon switching out between my audio book and "Going My Way" - hadn't seen that in forever. Made roasted vegetables for dinner (carrots and potatoes and onion and sweet potatoes cut small, tossed with olive oil and salt and roasted until a bit browned - simple but tasty!) and I've been doin' the heathen bachelorette thing and eating them with my fingers. Sometimes..that's just easiest. ;-)
To: SuziQ
Guess I've eaten enough collards and peas to ensure good luck for the year.
Hmmmm......wine, beer, or bourbon?

Evenin' evellybody... back from Narnia...
It was wonderful. Loved it.
Got home to a power outage. Big winds blew through while I was out. Big branches down in the driveway just missed Dad's pickup.
Dad and I were just in the garage starting to pull the generator out and hook it up when the power came back on. Maybe fifteen minutes ago.
Dang it.
