Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Home is behind, the world ahead
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

They had soooooo many Masses here for Christmas - says something about the area, I guess. There was a four o'clock at church, a four-thirty at the school, a six, an eight, and eleven, and then two in the morning. Even on regular weekends, we're somewhat spoiled for choice - four on Sunday alone.
Well, I attempted to take a timed picture this morning so I could show off my outfit. ;-) It's kinda dark, so I'm going to play with a bit before posting.

I forgot to take pictures of us so sorry to anyone that wanted those.*sigh*
We really gotta work on training ya.

Grrr...Mr. Beepy is having another loud party with plenty of thump-thump-cuss music and a lot of people stomping around. And it's not like I can go much of anywhere today.
I guess this is why I own headphones, huh?
Well, goshdurnit, I'm as bad at photo editing as I am at photography. It wasn't the greatest picture to start with (I never look like me in pictures...grrr.) And now it's lighter, but looks all grainy. Oh well...you get the idea.

That looks so awesome! You made a great scarf and the sweater is just perfect for you.
We're going to have to go just wander around Old Town some evening in finery and show off ;-)

Glad you didn't miss the flight, I'd have felt dreadful about that.
Pictures? We were too busy. I did the quick survey and you get the "keeper" vote from every family member who is A. vertical and B. not playing with marbles.

Made it! The oil light didn't come on and I got wiffs of burning oil now and then.
Not going to think about it again until tomorrow morning.

Having just finished up a New Year's dinner of homemade tamales, we are one fat and happy household. The tamales were fun to make. I used recipes from
this cookbook. The red sauce for the pork is lacking richness and character but the masa is quite fine. Quite fine. It took all day during which Big'ol kept creeping into the kitchen to check out his fermenter saying, "Izzit beer yet? Izzit beer yet?" a la the Simpsons. I'll definately make them again next year and maybe try one of the green sauces.
Big'ol_freeper, who hasn't had a decent tamale before (and technically still hasn't), declared, "I think I like enchiladas better." *sigh*

Whoohoo! Lookat you! Lookin so cute! Happy New Year!

No gunfire this year, just one impressive multi-stage rocket The yahoos who live down by the river didn't get rowdy this year, I think. If they did, we slept through it. (we're boring that way)
To: Lil'freeper
More than likely I just needed a good cervesa to go along with it.

And you made good time too!! Your car wasn't leaving a trail of oil when you left which was a good sign.
Now that you're safely home we'll take poor neglected Gyps for her walk (she gets one every now and again, you know)

Speaking of pictures... apparently my grandmother got that roll developed already. I took my sisters out to get some sneakers on sale and when I got back, the family informed me that she'd called and was inquiring about where I was. I'm gonna call her back soon. Mwahaha.
Waiting for your next flight?

We did leftovers from the Canyon Cafe for lunch, then we all just crashed in succession. I dragged out about 6pm and am fixing to make Blackeyed Peas and Cornbread. SirKit said that sounds like supper to him! I'm also going to make a Buttermilk Cake. I got some fresh raspberries and whipped cream at the grocery store last night, so we could have some tasty dessert today.

Already? I have not even developed (downloaded) the digital ones I took (none with us in them).
Heh, have fun with that call. You want to explain the context on that one for the folks watching at home? ;-D
Have you turned in your 'goody two-shoe' card yet? I am pretty sure that thing expired in '05
