Can you really electrocute someone using a telephone? (vanity)

Asking forgiveness in advance for this droll vanity. Every time I hear John Kerry talk about the atrocities and tortures in Vietnam (now Iraq), I wonder about electrocuting someone with a telephone. Can this really be done? Or is Kerry inventing again?

Some emergency radios have a built in hand crank generator, batteries and include LED lamps.

I have heard that these $100 laptops that are about to appear for the 3rd world are equipped with handcrank generators to recharge their batteries. That is definitely true or some radios supplied to the 3rd world in recent years.

Only reason I ain't askeered of Hoop Snakes is because there ain't no hills around here!
Education is wonderful, but only if you get educated by someone with some common sense. The line between education, and programming, is a thin line, indeed.
I wake up every morning thanking God for my bad attitude.

Thank you for your service in the 60's. My brother was on the Hancock in the China Sea (I think). Brother in law was an army medic, jumping out of helo's in Vietnam. Won't talk about it. Earned the medal of honor. Won't talk about it.

Back to juicy telephone generator... I was hoping Kerry was full of hooey. Now I think he saw it in a movie and passed it off as testimony. What a piece.

One can use an AN/PVS-12 (field phone) to do this

Are you sure about that? I thought AN/PVS-12 was a night vision weapon site

Volts = electrical pressure, small pressure (low voltage) little current (amps)flows high voltage (pressure) = higher current flows

Amps = electrical volume (amount of current,) more amperage more energy to do work, does this help any?

Thank you for your service in the 60's.

I thank you for that but I can not, in good conscience, let it go by without honest response.

I was in from 66-69 and was trained as an infantryman although I ultimately served in the Signal Corps. Incredibly, I spent one year in the U.S. and two thoroughly enjoyable years in Germany. I am one who served really only by standing and waiting. Thanks, though.

[...line between education, and programming, is thin...]

Now you've done it. In California we have a system for gifted learners called G.A.T.E. These kids are sooooo confused. They have the most ridiculous teaching style which demands the student to give the answer the teacher wants rather than the answer that is most logical. They are forced to stuff their instincts and reason. This messes with the personality. Almost every GATE student I know is tenuous and lacks spontaneity. When they answer correctly, they are rewarded with an "A" and then they get to stay in GATE. GATE parents are worse than soccer moms. There is so much prestige. My child is a GATE student at "_______" school. They do about 4 to 5 hours of homework a night. There is no time for social development or family. And the parents just think this is so great. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

Darn those on line translators - and for the record, yes, I did hear "something" about some Military service in his background.

Yes! Thank you. This helps a lot. I am more of a tinker type person. Give me something to build... I get that. Power and energy escapes me. I don't even like power tools. I will do a lot of work by hand if I can.

They (the band of mischievous brothers]) would have liked my Dad. He's going to be 90 this weekend.

Happy Birthday to your Dad!

Their generation had a lot of fun ... doing things we were never allowed to do ... free to play safely all over the town ... and, at least in my family, they could always tell a joke on themselves ... and a story of their childhood with a twinkling eye.

All of those dear people in my family are gone now ... but, definitely not forgotten.

Service is service. You deserve our (my) thanks for willingness. It is brave. War has many theatres. I'm sure you have served where the sword does not draw blood.

Normally it takes 30VAC to feel an effect. The ringer is ~ 75VAC. You could handle the bare wires until someone calls. If someone calls, you'll get a 30HZ zap.

We're giving him a party and the town he lives in has made him "Grand Marshall" in their Christmas parade. When you ask how he is, he says, "never had it so good". He is just a very happy guy. Always hugs everyone. His hugs take the stuffing out of you. Has some wonderful stories.
