They must think the Republicans are going to win in 2008. The last apocolyptic fad Hollywood went through was during the Reagan years.

Sigh. More mustn't see TV.
Note to Hollywierd: My offer's still open. If you wanna know what'll sell in the red bits, give me a call.

If they want me to watch, then it had better have been caused by reality TV.

How is this any different from the made for TV movies in the late 80's? We had movies about the take over of America by the Russians, destruction of America and Great Britain by a nuclear bomb.
Lame, but played.

"END OF AMERICA SHOWS"
What attraction is there for re-runs of old network news?
It reminds me. In the 1980s I wanted to get up to speed on the Sandinista / El Salvador confrontation. Who were the good guys and who were the bad guys.
Quickest way was to watch one evening of TV network news to see which was favored -- they'd be the bad guys.
It worked.

Folks, this scenario might lend itself to a conservative view of what is going on now. Assume the scenario is that the peacenik dims gain control in '06 and '08 and promptly negotiate "peace in our time" with the islamofascists, who promptly nuke us into obscurity. Would Europe or our Asian allies come to our aid? Hardly. So what would be left but a crippled and toothless giant?
It's like Niven/Pournelle's Fallen Angels, where the premise is that global warming is real and the Greens take control and put in the "right programs" to cure everything. Only then do they discover that global warming is the only thing keeping THE ICE AGE AT BAY.
There are possiblities here. I want to know who's making these things. Think about the folks at 24. Despite their bowing to preassure from CAIR they are big fans of Rush Limbaugh. Could something be afoot?

First off, I do have to say I do love my country.
But, I do see a time when there won't be a United States of America. When I was younger I used to be more cynical and think it would happen in my life time. I'm a little wiser now and think it'll take longer than that.
Or, at the very least, I see a weaker United States. I see a US as a non-super power, or a second tier super power. (mainly because of liberalism, and the growing threat of a Chinese/Russian super power, the growing consolidation of a liberal Europe, and a constant threat of Islmofacism.)
And since I can see that, I see where it would be interesting to write about, as a writer.
It'd be interesting to see what life would be like in a small town in a second rate U.S. It's not something many of us have ever contemplated.
For the record, I think these shows will fail miserablly because people won't want to see the U.S. portrayed that way... but I'd be interested in seeing what somebody's vision would be.

Didn't ABC try something rather similar in 1987 with their post WWIII "Amerika" where the US lost???
And wasn't that an undisputed Turd-In-A-Punchbowl???
Can either ABC or CBS be seriously be gambling with their faltering ratings with such garbage?
Jack.
