I have to ask. Have any of you ever seen CNN International ?? Not long ago, I was traveling and saw CNN International and was absolutely shocked at the incredible anti-American stance on ever issue. It totally blew my mind. It is no wonder a lot of the world does not like us.
from a June 21 blog:
On May 27th, 2002 a suicide bomber from Yasser Arafat's organization blew himself up near my 14 months old niece's cart, murdering the little baby SINAI KEINAN and her grandmother RUTHI PELED. My brother and sister in law LIOR and CHEN KEINAN were injured.
As you will shortly see, the CNN perfected its ability to report only one side of the story (the EVIL side), thereby supporting only that side's cause and SHOWING THE WORLD HOW BIASED THE CNN IS.
Last Friday (May 31st), the mourning parents made an indescribable effort to come and give two separate interviews:
The first, a live interview for CNN USA (Friday, 4 PM Israel time) - in which they expressed their pain and anguish, thanked the American people for their support and pleaded with the viewers to continue and support Israel in its fight against terror.
The second, a taped interview for CNN International (that unlike CNN USA can be viewed in Europe and Israel through cable) - in which the mourning parents expressed a small part of their strong feelings about Europe's unbelievable continuous support and "understanding" of the Palestinian's cause and the brutal, immoral and murderous ways they use to achieve the same.
We were told the interview was to be aired that day 6PM Israel time. That Friday, 8 PM Israel time, CNN INTERNATIONAL FINALLY APPROACHED THE ISSUE BY SHOWING A LONG INTERVIEW WITH THE SUICIDE BOMBER'S MOTHER WHO "EXPLAINED" WHY HE DID WHAT HE DID (the family's boutique was damaged and a relative was killed in battle(!!!)) !!! WITHOUT AIRING OR EVEN MENTIONING THE INTERVIEW WITH THE YOUNG COUPLE. The same repeated itself numerous times that evening and the day after.
Only the day after, after editing the American connotation of the live interview to the USA (which of course had an effect on the young couple's choice of words) CNN International cynically aired some short unrelated parts of that interview including the mentioned plea for continuing the support, plus a few seconds of the taped interview (out of a 20 minute interview).
All in all, CNN allocated no less then 16.20 minutes to the murderer's family as opposed to 5.35 minutes to the Keinan/Israeli side. The interview with the murderer's mother was aired 5 times (mostly during prime time) as opposed to the US interview with the young couple which was aired twice (non on prime time).
After being approached by a few government offices, the CNN now bothered to acknowledge "a mistake" and air some additional parts of the interviews, which of course now brings us nowhere.
Putting aside all PR issues, one can only begin to imagine what all this did to the mourning families.
I believe knowing the above will suffice in helping the reader do like I did and DECIDE TO NEVER AGAIN WATCH CNN.
I also believe CNN MUST BE FORCED TO ADMIT WHAT THEY DID, PUBLICLY AND DURING PRIME TIME.
For that cause, I ask you to forward the above story to as many people as you can.
Thank you,
Amit Keinan

I travel to Europe on a regular basis. CNN International is omni-present and about the only way to get news from the US while in Europe. Slanted news in an understatement. It is outright anti-American and no stone is unturned in bashing President Bush.
In a recent trailer for a CNN International special there was a clip from the "pantload" ex-pres Clinton, where he makes the statement "We actually know how to end world poverty." The fact that he had no impact on poverty in his eight years in office goes unchallenged. The inference is that somehow Bush is the culprit in continuing world poverty.
I get nauseous just thinking of the soundbite that played every half hour during my recent trip to Europe.
Is it as bad as CBS, NBC, PBS, The WAPO, NY Times, Hollywood, Rob Reiner, Sean Penn, Michael Moore, Cinnndeeey Sheehan, Medea Benjamin, Teddy, Murtha, Waters, Pelosi, Boxer, Chucky, Ho Dean, Jesse, Sharpton, Chomsky, Babs, Robbins, Sarandon, et al?
hey, no cape cod orca?
Worst part about traveling overseas - being stuck in a hotel room with CNN international.
This does nothing. We, as conservatives, need to learn not to TALK to CNN. It is only by choking off their SUPPLY of news that we can expect to influence their "presentation" of news.
It's been going on for centuries that 'old' battle' GOOD VS EVIL.
I could not agree more.
Remember when Kruschev said we will bury you? He knew America(ns) would sell their secrets, or anything to their enemies or anyone for a profit. His time table and the we were off, but basicly correct.
The only way to protest is to email/call CNN advertisers and promise to boycott them for advertising there.
You see these so called citizens can aspire to these lofty (and inherently dangerous) ideals because they do not live in the real world like the rest of us do. Their view of the world is shaped by a sense of imagine injustice perpetuated by the very system that provided them with the education and opportunity that helped propell them to these very lofty perches. Now they want to tell us how the world should be and shouldn't be run.
What is terribly sad is that these people who are the benefactors of a nation/culture (western), are willing through their naivite and assumed superiority, deny the very people who they report daily having these a 'wretched existence'. 'America is doing irreparable harm to Africa and the ME' they woud say, 'capitalism and democracy should not be "enforced" on these people', 'they are not ready'. As if like children, they (people of color and non-European of course) cannot help themselves, and only through a multi-national framework (UN) can we bring these people much needed help and support. How truely sad these people are.
The MSM wants to assume the role of the great equalizer. Assumed injustice must be remidied through equality. As if 'the truth will set you free' kind of mindset. but whose truth? Their idealized pseudo-intellectual truth? And what 'truth' are they not telling us? After all they are people too and as such are motivated by an assumed superiority that they and they alone posess. What arrogance.
Anti-Americanism is an intellectual crutch for those on the left. When you have no ideas or when your entire belief system has been systematically discredited by events in history, you either discard them (as most people do) and move on or you remain in parodixic state of denial, like the Michael Moores and Chomsky's of the world.
That sir is IMHO why anti-americanism seems to permeate academia and all the social sciences (including journalism) much more than any other discipline! There is as well this guilt that permeates the liberal mindset and it may explain why Liberalism is unique to western affluent societies. Wealth and privilege can make you do that. You can thank Capitalism and democracy for that.
cheers!
I watched CNN Asia almost every day in Kuala Lumpur. If anything, it was to the right of CNN Atlanta!
I would nominate Richard Quest for the title of Most Annoying Television Personality.
Thanks. Please see post # 31.
In Iraq we had AFN and usually they were running Fox News in the chow halls.
The hell of it is, isn't CNN International broadcast from the same building where Rush's Mistress in Atlanta works?
bttt
CNN International sucks. I spent a semester studying abroad in Rome when I was in college. We lived in apartments and each apartment had a TV. The only English channel the TV's got was CNN International. Two weeks after we arrived in Rome, 9/11 happened. Initially CNN Intl did an OK job covering the attacks. But soon it was almost impossible to get any news on what was going on in the USA. Instead it was bashing America and that skank Amanpour kissing up to our enemies 24/7. Having no other TV options made this even more frustrating.
When I came back to America in December of that year, I realized just how little I knew about how it felt to be back home on 9/11 and afterwards. I never got a good sense of what the country went through during those months. Obviously one can never truly understand something like that just from watching TV. Still CNN Intl seemed to try and focus on everything but America and how people here were reacting to 9/11.
Well, I was going to get around to fish, mammals, Donald Duck, Bambi, dolphins, etc's and Orca's next.
I'm making a very big list.
Paycheck, nothing. They BELIEVE it!
