(I'm not here right now...I am communicating psychically).
We've still got a lot of posts, if not as many as we'd hoped for. The transition of ping masters will not be smooth, but we'll get it.
And I've never posted a thread that got 500+ responses, so we should be happy.

It is not hopeless. I would say your chances are pretty good as you making enough effort to be a "ping-master" for a singles group.
Conservative right wingers, single, suitable age and sex, comparable physicals and other necessities,,,,

I knew this was going to be **Difficult**. May not happen.

I have been writing some more tonight. But, I have been checking in, from time to time.
I think that they are just trying to say:
(1)- DO NOT feel so hopeless, and like God has forgotten about your needs for a girl. I know you feel alone. SO do I. And, with Christmas coming soon, it is never fun, being alone. However, you must NOT allow this, to so cloud your thinking, that you let it ruin your outlook on things. I know you have heard this before, but I will say it anyway-- YOU are still young-- (I mean, I am 38, a LOT older, nearing the "middies" stage, so to speak),you have a lot of time. And when I say 'you do NOT want to fall victim to a "predatory woman". I MEAN it!! Someone who only uses you, for a purpose, and then departs, will leave you hurting a LOT more than you do now-- AND, those kind of women LOOK for the kind of guys, who exhibit the "I am alone, and need somebody" attitude. I say this from the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS. So, It is NOT a good idea, to allow women to know you are SO DESPERATE, that you HAVE to have a girlfriend-- for one, women in general see that as a weakness, OR a "line" from a guy who only wants to use them. and -- the "user" type women focus on guys like this, to "latch" on to, to pretend to be a friend to them for a SELFISH reason, and then once that woman has gotten their desire(such as stealing a man from his steady girlfriend, by using you as "bait"), they WILL leave you, often VERY cruelly. TRUST ME-- You do NOT want that to happen!!!!!
(2)-- you do have to put a LITTLE bit of effort into finding someone. The "lottery ticket" analogy, was referring to the fact, that you (and I, for that matter) expect God to just "send the right women to our door", without us doing anything to find her. While this may happen SOMETIMES, most often, he expects us to help out a little. Also, if someone DOES start paying you attention, as I have said to you before-- do NOT miss out on that. I did, (as I have told you about, publicly and privately, in more detail), and still wonder how things would had been different, had I not let that chance slip away. But, somehow, it must had been God's will. I have to accept that. Right now, I am too concerned with getting my script done, proofed, and entered, before the 25th(I plan on sending it in on about the 22nd) to worry about a girl. And, my financial situation is not looking too good, either. SO, I am just not too worried about dating right now. Of course, if something DID open up, I would be happy.

I wrote some more today too.
Sure is hard not to. I know how you feel about Christmas. It is not fun when your by yourself. I will do my best not to let it cloud my thinking.
I am well aware of the risks. I would never say I am lonely out in public (she would not even be aware of it until I know I could trust her). I never knew women saw it as a weakness. I belive you.
I never comoletely understood the lottery ticket anaology until now lol. I have been trying to get out more. Been talking but no real progress so far. I will look to see if somone is interested in me but I do not remember the signals to look for. I wish you luck on your script. SOunds awesome :)

To kind of go along with that theory and it may be a stretch, but have you ever noticed that many couples are brought together by others, not necessarily for that purpose but not a chance meeting.
Still somehow most of them will tell you that you have to get out on your own and try to find somebody, despite that wasn`t the way it happened to them.
I suppose it may be an ego thing or they don`t want to be part of something that does`nt work out.

Very cool stuff. The vehicles in mine use a system not too different than the AIP systems used on non-nuclear submarines although the fuel not ignite unless they pass through a catalyst within the engine's ignition chamber (since fire is a big danger on a spcaecraft).
I think the Swedes have such a system aboard their subs and IIRc, the Germans had some subs running off of hydrogen peroxide in World War II
Zero point energy is a very real theory. Also known as a quantum vacuum.
There was one game out there called "Project Phoenix" that someone made up, sort of like their own copy of "The Morrow Project" (I might have it archived somewhere) where the Phoenix Project used Zero Point (Energy) Generators (ZPG) to run their vehicles where it contained a micro black hole in a rotating magnetic containment field to draw power off of. Instead of using cryogenics, the teams were placed in mini dimensions or universes if you will using the same idea of micro black holes to where time passes faster in our world than theirs so if 3 months passes for a team, 150 years passes for us. Basically, the teams has to wait until the energy winds down and ther black hole winks out before they can leave which would be kind of frustration yet another interesting plot device.
I remember seeing a sciencespecial back in the late 1970's where they talked about black holes and as you get closer to them, time passes slower for you. I remember one skit they did with actor Peter Ustinov (one of my favorite actors) where they pretended he had an identical twin brother, the first one left in a spaceship in 1979, went to camp near a black hole and when he returned to Earth around 2015 or so, his brother was dead.
Faster than light travel in my novel is accomplished by quantum tunneling and only large ships can hold the hield the machinry that generates and accelerates the tachyons to a point to cause the spatial discontinuity. It only takes seconds to make the actual jump (no matter the distance) but it must be done well away from a gravity well such as a planet.
Hmmm, would be interesting. I think in one RPG, Traveller 2300AD or one of its versions, space jumps and handled in a similar way. The ship's computers are restricted to using vacuum tubes though because the process of the jump fries solid state electronics so you would have to turn off the high end computers and electronics prior to the jump if you don't want to lose them.

You're absolutely right; there are an awful lot of people who would rather waste time on silly gossip or other trivialities than exercise their minds at all.
I know what you mean. Where I work, it is quite refreshing. We are in an open room in the center of the building, it is called "The Dungeon" since there are no windows or anything, plus my co-worker is also a science fiction nut and is writing a book too. We had esoteric debates like the idea of alternate universes and one time we were talking about the polio vaccine that was developed by Salk here in Pittsburgh back in the 1950's. I quipped in, being an alternate history buff, to what it would be like had things been different to where they went down a different path such as a mechanic or electronic path to where we would end up with a portable iron lung suit. My co-worker, also a huge Star Wars fan, said, "cool! Then we would have a lot of Darth Vaders running around" since in Star Wars, Darth Vader's suit was basically a portable iron lung. Hmmm, a 1950's version of Darth Vader's suit. B-) We run the gambit from the Pittsburgh Steelers to cartoons to quantum physics. B-) One lady joined our room, she is an avid online role playing gamer and science fiction buff, her boyfriend is much deeper into science fiction, she says, we are refreshing since out in the office cubicles, it is nothing but gossip.
My co-worker came up with an interesting twist as well. We were talking about "Space: 1999" where the Moon leaves Earth orbit, goes into a black hole and ends God knows where. At work, we are allowed to listen to the radios on our walkmans all day but there are times we turn them off, we're both burned out on politics (he's conservative too) and just BS. He wondered that "if we had our radios off and the Moon left Earth orbit, how long would it take for us to find out?" Remember we are in a windowless room in the middle of a huge building, the men's room is a walk out the door, no windows you can look out on the way. If you go further, there are windows but on one end, you see the roof of part of the building, not much else and the other side, unless you go into meeting rooms, you can only see the road. My answer to him is "we will find out when we turn our radios on and we hear 9-11 style 'wall-to-wall and treetop tall' news coverage on the Moon leaving Earth's orbit." BTW, we can't get AM radio either so we listen to the FM talker here in Pittsburgh and occasionally the Christian station too. He replied, "possible unless it triggers some sort of earthquake" although I wonder if something even like that would trigger one here in Pittsburgh. I think we came to the conclusion that we would find out from two ways, either we look up and it is not there and we know the Moon is a supposed to be there and it's not or we turn our radios on.
We do have a lot of off-the-wall talk like that, it is kind of refreshing, it beats talking about "how was 'Friends' yesterday." B-)

Ouch! Sorry to hear that. My parents were hardcore leftists too.
Here Mom is a Republican, my father a Democrat but he would be more at home in the "Dixiecrats" since he was a huge George Wallace supporter in the 1960's. I have "Wallace '68" still plastered over the garage to this day. B-)

Well, maybe this would be a good discussion, then(for a little fun.)
On another site I frequent called Audio Karma, there was a thread where they were all talking about what was the fastest speed you've ever been up to, while in a car (NOT necessarily doing the driving.) And also, the crazy things done at said speed
In my case, the fastest i have ever been, was about 20 years ago, in Rodney's (former user-friend) camaro. It registered 130MPH, but he had it buried, for a bit, so most likely. about 140.
As for myself, once, about 11 years ago, I was in my '87 Buick Riv, dong about 70 on a country road, when a RR track came up quite suddenly. I was airborne, for a few seconds. Needless to say, I slowed down right after that.
Anyone care to share their daredevil stories?
OK, here goes:
I remember when I was real little, we had a 1968 Buick Wildcat, when we were going to Florida in 1969, my father cranked the car up to 140 MPH on I-95. He's more mellow at the age of 68 now, he just does 100. B-)
Myself, I think I've been up to 100 MPH a couple of times. First time was in a Ford cargo van. I was working for Budget Rent-A-Truck in 1989, we had to run a box truck and a van to Westmorland County, about 50 miles. The guy driving the box truck, well, I think he was a bit loopy to say the least and I had to keep up with him, he had his truck going 100 MPH at least. I wondered how I got the 6 cylinder Ford van up that fast, my speedometer was way past 85, it was pointing on the "D" on the gearshift indicator. We also went that fast through the Fort Pitt tunnels, here in Pittsburgh, people slow down before entering tunnels, it is a Pittsburgh thing it seems.
I had my Ford Explorer up that fast too, I heard they top out at 110 MPH from sources on the Explorer I've found. I did 85 to 90 on winding West Virginia highways in the mountains too.
This isn't the fastest but kind of bewildering was where I was running a 26 foot box truck out east and where the Parkway West meets I-376 (Parkway East) after getting out of the Fort Pitt Tunnels, there is a ramp that uses steel joining to keep the slabs together, I hit one of them and the truck shifted 3 feet to the left (centrifical force) into the other lane as I weas turning right. Those joining braces can be "slippy" (Pittsburgh word for "Slippery") if you hit them the wrong way.
Another horror story, when I had to run a Lincoln Town Car out east, at the same place where I had the experience with the truck, my car stalled, the dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree and I drifted to an emergency pulloff. I cranked the car, wouldn't start. It was a Sunday, the office was closed, and Pittsburgh is like a ghost town. There was no one around me, it was like "The Twilight Zone" episode where they had the Air Force pilot wandering around an abandoned city. Heck, if Rod Serling pulled over to offer help, I would have accepted it. B-) Well, after 15 minutes of waiting, nobody around, I decided to crank the car again, nothing to lose. It fired up, when along my way and picked up my ride back, no problems. I think at that time, Ford had problems with overheating their computer modules to where it would shut the car down.

Proverbs 18:22
He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD
Notice "finds" here is ACTIVE.
Even if you meet someone through friends, you had to be active to even have/find friends
If you pursue the gifts and talents that the good Lord gave you then you have a greater chance of finding someone through those activities
But the main point is still ACTION on your part
In the long run, we shape our lives, and we shape ourselves. The process never ends until we die. And the choices we make are ultimately our own responsibility.
Eleanor Roosevelt
You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Never let the fear of striking out get in your way.
Babe Ruth
Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.
Dale Carnegie
2 Timothy 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

As for the "Friends" thing, I once worked in a similar 'open room' type setup (although we did have windows) ... our desks were about 2 inches apart, because they had nowhere to put us at that time, so they shoved us together in a corner. There were about 6 of us, and all the others spent almost the entire shift talking about the doings of the characters of "Beverly Hills 90210" and similar shows. I was so happy when after a few months they expanded and had room to put us into semi-individual cubes. The only time in my life I can say I was actually happy to be moved into a cube ;-)
