Washington: Superstar singer Madonna is used to shocking her audiences- be it with her raunchy music videos, her costumes or by kissing pop-princess Britney Spears and singer Christina Aguilera during a live show. However, at the recent MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) held at Lisbon,Portugal, it was the singer's turn to be shocked when she was labelled a "transvisite" by the Awards' Kazakhstani host, Borat Sagdiyev.
While welcoming the audience he said that it was courageous of MTV to open the ceremony with a 'transversite' albeit a genuine one.
"Welcome to the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.The singer before me - who was he? It was very courageous of MTV to start the show with a genuine transvestite" Contactmusic quoted Borat as saying.
The singer had opened the ceremony with her new single, a Abba- inspired track called `Hung Up` and this was what had apparently confused Borat.
