I'm 40, the cute girl from upstairs is 23. When she stopped by to commiserate about loud neighbors, we had a beer, went dancing, and then had sex. Afterward, she seemed weird and left abruptly. I wrote her a note, "Sorry if I made you uncomfortable, but I love you and look forward to seeing you again." She hasn't looked at me since. Where did I go wrong? -- Mr. Neighbor

Grateful as you may be to a girl for having sex with you, it's never a good idea to let on. You could've had a future with her -- the kind 40-year-old guys without handfuls of bling typically have with 23-year-old girls: jump-starting their cars, lugging their couches up four flights of stairs, and maybe catching a little action when there are no hot young guys to be found. You blew it, though, with "I'm a lonely sack of emptiness!" -- which is how "I love you" translates after one beer, one dance, and one roll in the sack. (You say "I love you"; she says "It seemed like a good idea at the time.")

You are so right, you know me so well, don't you. Man, you ought to be a mind-reader, with your abilities.

NOW::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I never said they were ruined for life. I am saying, and ALWAYS have, that people who are doing that kind of thing NOW, are doing wrong. I did NOT say that someone who may have done bad in the past cannot change, and become a good person. If that was the case, that if a person makes a mistake, and is then branded for life, then we are ALL done for.

MY PROBLEM is with those who claim that people can do these kinds of things, on a daily basis, and not see anything wrong with it. And it REALLY upsets me when so-called Christian people make allowances for this kind of CURRENT, not past, behavior , in people.

To reiterate:: what someone did in the PAST does not matter, if they have changed, and become a decent person. I am speaking of CURRENT behavior in people.

Today's current behavior is tomorrow's past behavior. That's why the church I attend doesn't turn anyone away, even those who are living lives of unrepentant sin.

Your response displayed a senstivity that I truly didn't expect. I wasn't expecting such a defensive reaction. In prior conversations you've come right out and said that you don't mingle well with modern women with modern morals. If my revelation that your condemnation from the previous post was a problem upset you, then please, accept my apology, it wasn't meant to be offensive, but insightful.

My church feels the same way as yours, and we don't turn anyone away, who is living a life of sin, either. After all, Christ did the same.

BUT.................

That does NOT mean that it is ok to continue to do sin blatantly(as in sexual promiscuity), and claim to lead a Christian life. After all, Christ would forgive someone of their sins and THEN-- say "go and sin no more". Therefore, when someone DOES change, they are then expected to live a life commiserate to that of Christ. Otherwise, what is the difference, if a person does NOT change?

And YES-- I did say, that I do not get along well with women who espouse the modern, valueless lifestyle, like the one in the article, and who only want sex or money . I am not the only guy that feels that way here. I did NOT say that I would not get together with someone who HAD lived that way, and had changed, however.

Very wise, Melas. That's the right attitude, I think.

Mind if I ask an airplane question?(it will sound dumb, but I am curious:)

In movies, when a plane is heading down at a high rate of speed, whether it be in a crash, or just a "maneuver", there is that screeching, high-pitched sound, that increases in frequency, as the plane descends. Is that just tv, or does the air slipping over the wings REALLY make that sound, if a plane is diving fast?

It's all TV...

The noises an airplane makes are usually engine and prop related.

I've seen gliders do aerobatics and you can just make out a whistling - without the engine noise. With the engine noise - you'd never hear it.

(I never mind asnwering an airplane question - if I know the answer!)

;-)

I have an airplane question, too. In the film Airplane!, when eer they showed the jet plane flying, you heard the sounds of prop engines. What's up with that?

If a woman is going to wear hose, then it should be fishnet. Nothing sexier.
