So can we be assured then that we will get a nominee who will poke the liberals in the eye?

Were they both wearing the same design?

In particular they wanted one who would poke them in the eye with abortion. I feel Miers would have done that, but whatever.

You know a Fox News anchor is bad when Juan appears more reasonable than he does!

So can we be assured then that we will get a nominee who will poke the liberals in the eye? It won't do any good if we can't get enough votes to beat a filibuster or change the Senate rules.

""When President Bush nominated Miers, he did so with a big wink and let conservatives know she was 'one of us.' But even though conservatives knew that, they rejected her, because she was not sufficiently in-your-face as a pick, and they wanted to poke liberals in the eye with a nominee.""
It's an overgeneralization to say all the conservatives that opposed Miers felt this way, but I think there was a good amount of this going on.
However, it is a lot easier to know what someone believes when they aren't afraid to come out and say it even when it could be considered poking liberals in the eye.
I think many of those opposing Miers were justifably uncomfortable with not knowing enough about Miers. I just think that the way they went about trashing her was very, very wrong.

Isn't Smith the one with eyes on the sides of his head, over near his ears? Looks like a salamander?
