Most/Least Classy Players in the NFL (Vanity)
Posted on 10/23/2005 9:20:22 AM PDT by Ultra Sonic 007
This is a rather simple thread; who do YOU think is the classiest player (or players, if you have multiple choices) currently playing? You may even list a team.
On the flip side, what about those with the least class (points at Randy Moss)? You may even list a team (points at Vikings).
Also, you may even list those who have played and gone (players from the older days had a lot of class. Remember Gale Sayers?).
Who's your choice?

(points to G-Men pictures, including one autographed by Strahan) Yeah. I've been a Giants fan since 97 (Fassel's first year at the helm). When you think about it, the Giants haven't really been the subject of what one would call 'negative' publicity. The only possible exception is Shockey, and even he's mellowed out some.

Ah, the Minister of Defense...he was a GREAT man. Good Christian...and he denounced homosexuality as SINFUL! Politically incorrect to boot! Can't get much better than that. :)
As for coaches...I'm not quite sure, but I've heard Tom Landry was a pretty classy guy. Didn't he wear a business suit to the field every game?

Current Players-No Class- now thats a tough call, my first names mentioned would be TO and Keyshawn Johnson, both loud mouth selfish jerks...
Class Players- Tedy Bruschi is a favorite,Jerome Bettis comes to mind as well.

I grew up watching Tom Landry on the Cowboy's sidelines. He always had a suit on (and his trademark hat) and in hindsight struck me as a quiet consummate professional all the way. Definitely a class act all the way

A player I think has a lot of class doesn't even start any more. I am no Bengal fan, but I like Jon Kitna as he is a Christian brother and because of his stand on his hat a couple years back.
For those unfamiliar with it, Kitna once wore a baseball cap with a cross on it to post-game interview. The ignorant NFL fined him for it. (We all know that has it been the Islam crscent or something that would have been OK, of course)
He basically said "OK, but I am not going to stop wearing my hat, so fine away."

For the past few years, listening to sports radio has been like listening to the police blotter.
Management and head coaches that set the rules....and enforce them ...have class.
These days, teams payout so much money in contracts with good athletes with questionable character, management can't just cut them loose.
One guy never mentioned who never caught the breaks, didn't attend college, was never drafted....a walk in who got a job was Otis Sistrunk of the old Raiders. A work a day player, happy with the paycheck.

As I recall, the NFL ended up backing off and not fining him after all. In Cincy, though, it caused quite a stir at the time. Lots of folks sent him money to pay the fine, and thousnads of similar hats were sold during that time period to people who supported him.

Now you've really aroused my interest . . . so I found the story on
WorldViews "Caps, Crosses and Kitna". The comments section is equally interesting. Thanks again. \o/

I am no Bengal fan, but I like Jon Kitna ... Agree ... John Kitna is a class act, no question. Also, in the class act category ... Troy Aikman & Doug Flutie.
