Sorry if this is anywhere else--search is my friend but I could turn up nothing. Chicago and LA/Anaheim are tied 3-3 with 2 out in the 7th as I type this. Go-ahead run at 2nd. Can Chicago win their first pennant since 1959?

This could be the first time in his lifetime a Chicago baseball team has won a pennant. When was he born? Oct 10, 1959...probably a few weeks after CWS lost '59 WS to Dodgers.

Try two days! The Sox lost to the Dodgers on October 8, 1959.

One more out and the White Sox go to the World Serious!

Ran out to the store for some ciggies earlier and overhead the guy behind the counter gruffly say "baseball season is over" to some customer who wanted to talk baseball.

Obviously a pissed off hard-core Red Sox fan. He probably won't even watch the World Serious.

I've been enjoying rooting for HOU and CHW.

Want to see HOU - CHW in the Series. Will root for CHW.

Same here...though I kinda like HOU too. Usually root for
AL team in WS, unless that team comes from the Bronx.

From the old hard-luck days of the CWS:

" "If I was going to storm a pill box, going to sheer, utter, certain death, and the colonel said, "Shepherd, pick six guys," I'd pick six White Sox fans, because they have known death every day of their lives and it holds no terror for them."-- JEAN SHEPHERD

Indeed.

The first baseball game I ever went to was at Old Comiskey, and watched Dick Allen and Wilbur Wood....

What a joke. The Angels just got mind-F***ed on national TV. Three straight games. In their own crib. I thought that Disney divested itself of the Angels, cause what just finished was definitely Mickey Mouse.

That said, congrats to the White Sox. They played Angels baseball better than the Angels did. Go Houston!

If it's an Astros-CWS world series, CWS have advantage. AL won all-star game (this yr it counts). Or Angels would, if there's a miracle comeback a la Red Sox last yr.

Comeback? The furthest ball that Vladimir Guerrero hit was in that stupid Pepsi commercial (with A-Rod), when he shattered the moon..and even that was a pop fly.
