Interesting!
You know...that's how it was with my pennywhistle forum I used to be a part of...bald-faced liberals, almost every one. But a few were pretty nice. Kept their opinions to themselves and were respectful of me which is all I ever ask.
I couldn't stand it anymore and hardly ever back. Which is a shame.
Ever now and then I'll post something to keep 'em on their toes.

I think I've given up on them.
My last straw was a member who announced to one and all that she refused to participate on any threads that I posted or commented on, and then asked me if I were actually a black woman, seeing as how I'm conservative and vote Republican and all. (It's a mailing list for black women.)
At first, I was incensed that she would ask ... then, I realized, none of them has ever seen me. EVER. I've been on that mailing list since 1995. The eldest son of one of the list members is married to my second cousin. (I've met the son, but not his mother.) I've IMed a few, talked to a few of them on the phone. But I've never met one face to face. One lives in San Antonio, another in Houston, and I've never bestirred myself to meet either one.
Which just goes to show how involved I am in their lives.
I've met several of you Hobbit Hole dwellers. (I even got on a plane to meet y'all!) And I know you well enough to write you into my NaNo novel. I've been pondering this, and have come to the conclusion that they're too liberal to be interesting.
They're like a fuzzy blob on my horizon --- they're so far away, so indistinct, that I can't see their features, even if I strain. And their views are so diametrically opposed to mine that I can never bring them closer, or into focus.
I've sworn off GirlFriends (the name of the mailing list) before ... but I think this time I may be gone permanently. There's one other conservative there, who I'm trying to get to FR, or at least to Booker Rising, but I can deal with her via private email, and stay off the list.
Sad.

Perhaps this would be a good time to "admit" to them that yes, you are in fact a nice white girl from the LA valley. You fell hopelessly in love with a wonderful and talented black man... and so far you've felt very left out of your husband's "home" culture and have been desperately trying to find out how to "fit in".

We have to meander up that way sometime soon ... after the snows melt! I've been to Denver, but that was long ago. I don't know that DaBear has been to Denver.
But maybe you can drop in on your way to San Antone. I trust Talon to feed you real Mexican food, like tamales and molé and soft tacos. We'll take y'all to Hills Café and feed you chicken fried steak.
Listening to Peter Gabriel now. "Big Time" is a great video! I think dreamy country and Bonnie Raitt are next ... gotta write a love scene.
