Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh! Remember when I got hit in the eye with the plug? The doctor told me "THEN" that I needed the plugs but it freaked me out too!
I have just gotten so uncomfortable.

Last night I accidently hit myself in the eye with my hairbrush! (I know...I'm a clutz.)
The bristles hit me square in the eye and it didn't even water.

That is kinda more freaky than the plug. I hope it really works for you. It is so nice to finally have a solution to something that has been nagging at you.

I loved trick or treating! When we moved from the house we lived in until I was 6, my parents used to drive us back to where we'd lived so we could trick or treat at our old neighbor's house. They were a childless couple who lived across the street from Mama and Daddy, and were just nice to us. The man was a mason and tile setter, and he used to let my sister and me plunk around in his garage and play with the mosaic tiles he had left over from previous jobs. Now we were only about 4 and 5 at the time, so you know they were fairly indulgent! Anyway, every year she would have a big bag of candy, fruit and cookies ready for each of us when we came by! We moved back to that house when I was in high school, so I got to know her more as an adult. She was a real sweetie and hand wrote one of the first recipes I was ever given by anyone, a Christmas Fruit Cake cookie recipe. I remember looking at it and being astounded because the recipe made 300 cookies!! After having made it a few times, though, you'd have to make little quarter sized cookies to ever get 300 of them!
Anyway, I enjoyed trick or treating, and our kids did too. Clare and Joseph both went out last year with some friends of theirs though I don't think they have any plans to do that this year. They may go on our street; all the middle and high school kids do, but there are only 18 houses on our street, so it won't take long. ;o)
My sister used to do Halloween up big at her house. She'd dress up as a witch, and have all kinds of creepy decorations. She loved it!

I think you need to wear safety goggles all the time.
To: Overtaxed
You and me both!
I do use them now...more frequently than I used to. Doing things like cleaning the tub, or frying stuff in the skillet! LOL

Time to send out The Toaster. Toasters and rain don't mix very well.

Don't know much about Norwood. I see on the map it's South and West of Boston, outside of the 95/128 loop. I know that just west of Norwood, in Millis and that area, the houses are less expensive than within the loop, closer to Boston. Right now is also a good time to be buying because the prices have come down from what they were a couple of years ago. I don't know anything about the schools, etc.
Our son, Paul, called me last night to ask about how much sq. footage our house had because he's starting to look for a place to buy and wanted to have something to use as a benchmark when he sees sq footage mentioned in listings. He'll be looking for a place probably in the spring or summer, and the prices should have gotten really good about that time! He'd love to buy a condo or a little house in Cambridge, cause he has some friends living in Cambridge, and his favorite War Games Workshop store is there. But he'll likely have to find something a little farther out on the T to be able to afford it. He likes being able to take the T into work and not worry about parking etc. The law firm for which he'll be working has its offices in a building that is about 100 yds. from the T station. VEY convenient!

I'm going to have to say something, so prepare yourself...
I have really intense feelings toward my microwave. I mean, I can't describe how I feel when I look at it.
I love my new microwave.
Just now, I made Matthew a chicken and rice stirfry almost completely in the microwave. First I made the rice, then I cooked the chicken (which I quickly browned in butter in a skillet). The rice is not instant and the chicken was solid frozen.
Took maybe five minutes of actual prep time and my kid thinks I'm great.
I love my microwave. I really hope the person that got it for me has a good day today!

Got a note from SirKit's sister this morning. Their nephew just got a job in, and will be moving to Overland Park KS. Anywhere near you? S-i-l and her hubby live in Lee's Summit, not too far from another HHer ;o)
