Bah! No candy for oil! When I was a kid, we walked thirty miles, uphill both ways, to work for our candy!
We won't be around so I won't have to choose between being the Grinch or rewarding beggary.
I wasn't motivated to put ANY decorations out. I have to paint the trim around the front door today, and that's as exotic as I'm going to get. I just wasn't in the mood this year, I guess. I took the kids to a Halloween party last night, and decided to stay and visit with the parents. She said the only reason her house was decorated was that their youngest had a birthday the previous week and she decorated for her party. We've never been that big on Halloween anyway, so I didn't miss not decorating for it.
LOL! I saw one of those the other day. Did a double take, I can tell you!
I told you I don't scare off easy...
Then again that was after you talked to my dad so I guess you don't scare off easy either.
She shoulda turned into dust after saying "Good Lord."
I'm literally the only person I know that ever let their kids trick or treat. I guess it's because I absolutely loved it when I was a kid and was looking for that for the jedis.
Unfortunately, the last time we went trick or treating (in my parent's upscale golf course neighborhood) the whole place was overrun with teenagers running amok, playing loud music and speeding up and down the streets in their cars.
We gave up on the trick or treating then. Last year Matthew didn't even dress up.
The church down the street has a hugh blow-out...free hot dogs and petting zoo...big big deal. So we walk down to that and sometimes we go to our church's blowout, but I don't know if we will this year. It's a long drive off!
The jedis are dressing up this year though...I'll post pictures. You all will get it but I bet very few others will.
We have never decorated for it. But I have all kinds of ideas of how I could scare the kids (you know this is a hobby of ours around the house...startling each other) but I'm afraid if I did some of the ideas I have I'd traumatize a child.
ROFLOL!
Do you get trick or treaters at your place still?
It was a big deal in my neighborhood, we had such a good street for it, people dropped off their kids on our street and came back for them later. We'd go through 10 bags of candy. The last few years we were there, barely any.
Partly, the neighborhood aged... all us kids grew up and left, and the folks are the only ones left. But I think it's really decreased in response to fears and such and now kids go to parties instead.
We never have been home. We always go somewhere else. My parents had quite a few for a while a few years back, but gradually it turned into just teenagers in masks.
That's how it was in our neighborhood though...when we were growing up. We were allowed to just run loose, no supervision and stay out all evening! The neighborhood grew old though...all at the same time. It was a brand new neighborhood when we all moved in when we were kids in the early 60s.

my B-I-L in Chicago was offered a vey VEY good position in his company (two-level promotion, 6 figger salary), that would involve a move to Boston... hell the transfer support package is $100k... we're so happy that they have this opportunity, as he is a great guy... but Boston is deep in enemy territory...

It's pourin' out.... lousy day for trick or treating, unless you are going to dress up like this guy:
we haven't had any trick or treaters here on the Ridge... cain't figger it out...
figgers...
it's a great day tuh smoke a pipe on theporch...
Pouring here too, but supposed to clear off in time.
Besides, the thing down the street is mostly indoors.
Weather's great here today. I was actually kinda hopin' it would rain. It gets tricksey-treaty trying to get Luke around the nayberhood AND to the Fall Festival at church. Yes he wants to do both.
I'm going to try to leave early. But I left early Friday to get Jr. to football, and I'm asking off next Tuesday. This would be so much easier if my boss was human.
And, so far it's been a Corin day... I forgot my building entrance card, left my cell phone in the truck (at least it'll be good and charged) and the wife ~still~ has the checkbook in her purse...
At least it's Monday.
(cartmann voice) sweet... ( /cartmann voice )
bite me
you wish...
the wife still has the checkbook?... be afraid... be vey afraid...
