Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

There are situations that just demand a, "*HARUMPH* Some people!"
This would be one of those situations.
To: 2Jedismom
You need to just accept that your Mom isn't going to change and that your Dad is caught in the middle. Make sure that the address change has been made and that they NEVER get another bill that should have been sent to you. The situation is something that you will never be able to control, so you have to let it go, so they won't keep sending you into a tizzy.
Now go get something to eat and have a cup of coffee with me!

OH! - Ruthy called about an hour ago, on her way home from work.
She's OK - but she still doesn't have power, and the news for getting it back is not very hopeful. It may be a ways into November before there is normalcy.
The critical situation right now is gas. Stations that have electricity are sold out, stations without electricity are full of gas but can't pump it. She's got about 100 miles of gas left and thinking about that on every trip back and forth to work and grandmas and errands.

Wow, that's not good. I suppose the only blessing there is they're not likely to get snow and freeze to death.

Heh heh!!
I can't eat when I get upset...I seem to cinch all up and my throat won't swallow and my stomach gets upset.
But it's resolving and I've actually just got to calm down about it. Laughing helps a lot so I really do try to see the humor in it.
Now that it's all over I can see that they've made abject fools of themselves and it does kinda make me chuckle in a shaky kind of way.

Woo-hoo! Got my first paycheck today!
I owe pretty much every last bit of it, but that's miles better than owing without having a paycheck to pay it with...

Toaster ... check. (It explodes ... does that get me extra points?)
Aloe plant ... check.
I can't get a ninja into my story ... how about a Krav Maga expert?
Oh ... I could have the ninja attack the Krav Maga expert! Who'd win, do you think?

Yay! I will get all those elements in but it's not planned out. Except the ninja. Ninja will appear as necessary.

The second thing I thought of was a landfill in Georgia where they send the rotted fruit.

*sigh*
On the other hand, I figured out bad news today. Apparently the staffing agency was under the impression that we'd be working throughout a software roll-out, which is gonna be going on by stages through the end of next year. The reality is that we're just there for the hardware upgrade portion, which is supposed to be completed by the end of December at the latest.
I never signed a contract stating a particular length of time, since, as they understood, no one knew how long it'd take. So I can't complain, except that there was miscommunication. I guess I'm gonna talk to the staffing lady tomorrow to see what my options are afterwards. But as it is, I'm gonna be out of work again right after Christmas, and it makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it.
