Do you think it's time to reverse Roe v. Wade? [FR Straw Poll]

Begging Jim's indulgence I think it's appropriate to ask the question that is at the heart of the Harriet Miers nomination.

Do you think it's time to reverse Roe v. Wade?

If males would be MEN and protect and provide for the young they procreate, instead of using and abandoning women (women gotta raise the bar, too!), abortion wouldn't be an issue. But yes, Roe was fraudulently foisted on the public and should be repealed. Ms. Covey agrees.

No, we shouldn't change the abortion laws yet. I think we should wait for more government suppression of religion and personal freedoms, more terrorism, more wars, more natural disasters, more divorces, more pornography and more crime and drug problems . Then if there's anything left of America we can debate changing the abortion laws.

The underlying "Right to Privacy" is made up law and should be overturned.

Yes, send it back to the states. I, also with trubluolyguy, live in a state where it will continue to be legal. Even if something I agreed with was as badly written as RvW I would hope I would want it sent back to the states.

Yes. State rights plus the right to life of the child destroy the argument of "viability", used in the majority's opinion.

I would love to see Roe Vs Wade overturned because it is bad precedent which has led to much convoluted Supreme Court rulings, but I don't think even with Miers this is possible. You have four votes to overturn this-including Miers. Also, despite all the carping about Miers ( I do believe it is sexist and elitist by the way). You need five votes. Also, conservatives assume Roberts will overturn Roe Vs Wade. I am not convinced this is the case. It would be very ironic if Miers voted pro-life and Roberts didn't. Conservatives are crying for a 'real conservative'. In my opinion such a candidate will never be confirmed by cowardly senators- 7-8 who are Rinos.

Nope;

I say we open free abortion clinics in all "low rent" areas. Young, single girls in school should be encouraged to get an abortion, stay in school and get their diploma.

I have no problem with early abortions. I do with late term ones.

You asked and this is just my opinion.

Do you think it's time to reverse Roe v. Wade?

Yes. I think the SCOTUS should overturn all precedents that are not grounded in the Constitution. Roe and Casey are probably exhibits one and two when it comes to decisions not based on our Constitution so overturn them and let the people of the various states decide.

Who can say with any honesty that Washington, Madison, or Jefferson would not find this practice so hideous and evil that banning it would require not a second thought?

<hand position="raised"> </hand>

It's quite an insult to think that our Founding Fathers were unaware of a practice that was thousands of years old, especially when you consider Jefferson's Classical scholarship. They were aware of it, yet they did not make it a Federal offense.

On the other hand, I don't see them writing a sweeping right to privacy as something to be protected (it's not explicit in Madison's Bill of Rights), but then again, perhaps they felt no need to do so, and assumed it was a given (ah, the Federalist/anti-Federalist debates again).

But that's just my opinion.
