Rick Folbaum Better than Shep Smith at Fox's Studio B? [Fox News Inside Baseball Vanity]
Fox News | governsleast governsbest

Watching Fox News to catch up on the latest Delay news, I see that Rick Folbaum is filling in for Shep Smith.

My two cents says Folbaum is better than Shep. Smith is too 'hot,' not in the Paris Hilton meaning, but in the sense that the show often seems more about him than about the news. He's a distraction.

Folbaum seems more of a straightforward TV news journalist. He wears better.

Your thoughts?

By the way, Folbaum refereed a debate on the Delay matter between Democrat Cong. Pasquale of New Jersey and Republican McHenry of North Carolina. I have to admit I thought Pasquale got the better of the exchange. He came across as more spontaneous and real. McHenry, as Pasquale pointed out, seemed to be reading from a list of talking points.

Here's a link to Folbaum's bio:

I'm still steaming about some of FOXs coverage of Katrina and my wife quickly removes readily availabe shoes when Whoraldo and Shep appear on the screen. Of course, it doesn't help when I see them after viewing C-Span and the FEMA "inquisition" - I can't believe the SOB out of Mississippi complaining about the lack of ice??? I have to say that Brown has exhibited a lot of moxy before the congressional PIMPS which includes many Republicans.

I like Rick better than Shep too.
For one thing, Shep has showed his liberal stripes far too many times in how he shades the coverage. It's quite striking at times coming in off the heels of the truly fair and balanced Brit Hume.

Shep's played out. I really think this Rick wave is the Next Big Thing.

Just because a guy is good looking .. it doesn't mean he's gay.

Thank you so much for pointing this out to me! I was under the impression that all good looking men were homosexual until you set me straight. Straight! Hahahhaa

I could care less if Shep is gay, straight or whatever. He strikes me as a male diva. A miva.

I note your X for Folbaum.

But how do we know that Karl Rove isn't manipulating the votes via the internet, just like he did in Ohio? ;-)

I like Shep. He does alot of tongue-in-cheek things and I like the way he livens up the news. He has personality and spark. I prefer that to someone who simply reads what is before him/her. I want to be kept awake.

There seems to be a total tidal wave in favor of Folbaum, or for some, an ABS [anyone but Shep] attitude.

This reminds me of FReeper reaction to Julian Phillips, the egregious co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend.

Since FReepers are surely an important part of, and good weather vanes for, Fox News' base, it makes you wonder why these guys are still there?

Your thoughts?
  1. It's "DeLay" (not "Delay").
  2. I fail to see how any of this relates to baseball.

OK, I give. Why is the word "baseball" in your headline?

"Inside baseball" is a phrase meaning "behind-the-scenes stuff that is not necessarily known or of interest to the general public."

Shep has gotten my respect when he has flown hot at liberals who try to put out the daily lie. I still remember the days when the liberal lie du jour would go unchallenged.

I stand corrected on the spelling of DeLay.

As to baseball, please see my explanation at #34.

Although like most people on the thread I favor Folbaum, I'm glad that some Shep supporters are speaking up.

I like and respect Folbaum, too. And there are certain times he suits me more; however, for the evening news and some of the other things Shep does, I enjoy him. He has a wicked sense of humor but you have to pay attention.
Just before we invaded Iraq, he used to insert little clips of the National Band of Iraq (not) playing some god-awful noise and looking stupid. It would happen so fast that the first time I thought I had imagined it. That's just one example.

Shep Smith. How can you trust a guy that would allow himself to be photographed with that color (not to mention the knot) tie?
