Sorry for the vanity; Some jerk left two little kittens outside my apartment door; They look to be about five weeks old, with their eyes open, very thin. I don't want them, but the shelters here take animals by appointment only. Any freepers in the San Antonio area need a kitty? They're pretty cute, one's white and gold and the other's a mottled brown/black. Both males, they don't seem to have any fleas, or ticks. Also, any hints on what to feed them in the meantime would be appreciated. (We don't know much about cats.) I'd really like to get them out of here before my husband gets too attached to them and insists they stay. :-)

Come on, ya'all...You know you want some kitties!
If the tri color one is a male, he's unusual. Most calicos or tri color cats are female.
They sure are cute.
Pinging some TX folk I know.
Pssst. (I think he's trying to bring you more!)
I can't tell you how many cats (and dogs) I've adopted over the years, LOL..... And I never had to worry one second about "training" a kitten to use a litter box. It's got to be instinctive because they seem to know exactly what that thing is for.
The minute you set it down, they'll use it.
Yes he is a tortishell.....beautiful. You have FRmail.
People and shelters are probably as full up as they can get in your area. I think you'd better keep them!
They'll automatically use a litter box, just set them in it, so they know where it is, and your training will be done!
I'd recommend shots for them, and neutering as soon as you (or they ;~D) can swing it.
The little bit of sleepy gunk I see in the one is OK... watch for more serious runny eyes... If they get colds in their eyes it can be quite serious.
That explains why my new kittens don't have brothers. Their entire litter of four was female.
I have four cats already, and three of them are still kittens (technically). I'll have to exempt myself from adopting.
They are so cute! I wish that I was closer! Have you considered posting on the state board?
With great power comes great responsibility.
Zia does have a buddy now. Meet Deimos:

Deimos is male, about 4 months old, and the world's biggest cuddlebug. Every time I lay down he presses up against me and resumes his goal of licking my face off. The collar is because, to paraphrase Dave Barry, I just had the volume knob permanently turned down on his stereo of love, and he's been pulling the stitches.
Oh, the Stereo of Love...he's got that 'why me' look!
I can tell by his face that he knows what love is; that's a sweet looking baby face!
I had a feeling that one cat would turn to two. Is Deimos a stray, too?
A friend of mine recently got a kitten that was weaned too soon, and the cat would try to bite her lip and nose. She thought that it was just being playful, but it was desperate to feed and was not able to digest even the canned kitten food. It is likely that those kittens are near starving as I type this and need some formula pretty badly. It isnt too expensive though...JFK
I think it's "cat people" and "dog people" that are mortal enemies :-) I'm an oddity: I love both to death.
Nope in Georgia, but my daughter lives in San Antonio and is coming to visit me at the end of the month and maybe could take them back with her. How many do you want?
The really annoying part is that he's cryptorchid - he may still have one that the vet couldn't find. I think of it as "Schroedinger's Testicle."
I can tell by his face that he knows what love is; that's a sweet looking baby face!
Thanks - if I let him he'd be in constant contact with me, purring all the time. Now, if I could find a human female who feels the same way...
I had a feeling that one cat would turn to two. Is Deimos a stray, too?
Yep. My neighbors found him and his brother literally in the middle of the street, all of 6 weeks old. When they came over to ask for help finding the kittens a home I picked Deimos up - he immediately climbed onto my shoulder and started purring like a chainsaw. I was hooked. (The neighbors took on the brother.)
But this is the last one! < /famous_last_words>
Hardy har har! I thought you were offering to to take these two off my hands! ;-)
Thanks, everyone, for your support! We went and got some little bitty bottles and a can of kitty formula and we fed the kittens. They are getting pretty wobbly and shaky, so I think they must still be dehydrated. Mr. legs informs me that they may, in fact, be female. What I took for testicles may just be an amorphous feline bulge; I am going to Google "cat testicles" (wish me luck), but these may be totally ordinary, run of the mill kittens. That being said, I really do appreciate everyone's kind words and advice. My husband has started a 'keep the kitties' campaign, but I still hope to find good homes for them.
You will - yours. < /voice_of_experience>
