if I were a member of a race and idiots within my race always claimed to speak for me with this drivel

Those people who say that Kanye doesn't speak for them aren't important enough to get face time in front of a camera.
People who state the obvious aren't supplying news, it's those people who say something totally outrageous that get viewers to tune in.
What's also outrageous are people who are incapable of understanding this fact and determine that it must be true is someone said it.

When one appeals to the lowest common denominator, they become the general of an army of fools.

I turned this one right in the middle of his rant. I saw Mike Meyers and with the way Kanye West was talking I thought they were doing some kind of skit. Mike Meyers eyes kept darting around like, "Oh my God, please get me out of here...I'm SHREK for God's sake!"

Then he said the "George Bush does not care about black people" and Mike Meyers just looked like he was going to pass out!

Wow, Mike Myers was obviously reading from a cue card, Kanye just decided to (poorly) freestyle it. He rambled and stuttered, then made his stupid comments. Mike Myers looked like he couldn't believe what was happening! I would LOVE to have been back stage after that segment!!!

"He has to check with his business manager to find out how much "he" can give. To him giving is not from the heart it is business matter. Yet he claims George Bush doesn't care about blacks."

Yeah, you noticed that part too......

"Oh, I can imagine a lot of people figure the federal government is already giving something on their behalf. $10.5B is something like $40 from each man, woman and child in the US, and the President said that's just a "small downpayment."

It all depends on how much tax you pay. I figure Bush has donated about ten times that amount ($400) on my behalf already. And since I'm white, I must be a "racist", so I will refrain from giving any extra, especially through United way,or NGO's of that nature. Perhaps I'll donate something through a church, or other private initiative a little later when things are better organized, and I can direct where the donation goes. I certainly don't want my money going to people who are already living off my tax money, and call me a "racist". It will go to those who are grateful for what they get, not those who demand it, as if they are entitled.

His comments were way off base and just shows why most Americans are turned off by celebrity opinions.

The folks in New Orleans that are helpless are being helped.

A lot of the blame for Hurricane Katrina lies with Mother Nature, the New Orleans mayor who didn't do more, and the Louisiana Governor's office.

What about Biloxi and Gulfport?? Are those two places majority black??

This tragedy is a tragedy of our neighbors and Nation. This hurricane didn't care about race, socioeconomic status, religion, gender, or anything else. Sad, but Katrina was less discriminating than the entire Democratic Party.

"He also criticised politicians for "riding home in their Benzs and Bentleys while poor Africans starve"."

What about him riding home in his Benzs and Bentleys while poor white people in America starve everyday?

Unfortunately, I doubt it.
My black neighbors see this in much the same manner as Kanye West. They're used to being *victims* of real and imagined *dramas*.

Even if they know better...my neighbors are automatically sympathetic to other black folks they perceive as being screwed. As for the white folks who are also in need in New Orleans, they could care less.

These same neighbors relied on my hubby during Hurricane Isabel. For almost a week, they came to eat at our house and my hubby had to help them with a variety of things. One man of Caucasian ancestry having to help black folks that supposedly were victimized.

My neighbors knew the hurricane was coming, but did nothing to prepare for it. It's hard to feel bad for black folks that are too damn lazy and stupid to help themselves. This includes my black college educated neighbors.

Keeping with the Liberal Mentality in general, pick and choose what parts of facts, history, and reality that suit your agenda. Only Blacks afford themselves the extra luxury of inflating the victim status when Race is involved.

KANYE WEST AS PETTY CRIMINAL (from "Spaceship"): After dropping out of school at Chicago State, West briefly took a job at the Gap. Although he liked the khakis, he felt he was inadequately compensated, so he stole to make up the difference. When they accused him of stealing, however, he took that as an affront to his ethnicity--especially since they made a habit of displaying him in the front window as their "token blackie." This made him feel undervalued as both an employee and a person. It also made him want to kick his boss' ass: "If my manager insults me again, I will be assaulting him/ After I fuck the manager up then I'm going to shorten the register up."
