The military oath includes the phrase "enemies, foreign and domestic" and I'm puzzled about the definition of a domestic enemy.
Is there an official definition of what makes someone a domestic enemy?
Are there any examples of this charge being prosecuted?
Thanks, grandma mac
I don't know, but I would nominate Crips, Bloods, MS-13, Asian gangs, Hispanic gangs, prison gangs, and organized crime families in general for starters.
Hillary. Bubba. Michael Moore. John "I've been to Vietnam" Kerry. Cindy Sheeeeeeee Han. Sean Penn. James Carrville. Sandy Berger. Ward Churchhill, Robert Jensen, thousands of lawyers and college professors. CAIR.
The list is endless.
The "oath" ... must have an official definition somewhere. Like you, I have personal thoughts about domestic enemies.
If you search the web for domestic enemy, DU pops up first with their definition, yuk, and then there is a military site with the different oaths for each branch and the guard & reserve.
"I,____________, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same.
But I suspect we the people, haven't used this charge officially since the Rosenbergs.
Anyone who by deed or inaction, violates his Oath of office, violates or causes others to attempt to destroy the constitution are Domestic Enemies.
That's why 90% of Washington District of Criminals should be considered occupiers and not representatives.
They are the enemy
My ex wife??
"all enemies, foreign and democratic..." Same difference"
LOL, we think alike! But this is hugh & series for me....does giving aid & comfort to the enemy (code pink money to the terrorists) qualify?
Do the protestors who want to interfere with our troop's recovery at Walter Reed count?
How about lying under oath about intelligence, the WMDs etc, ala Joe Wilson?
Stuffing secret documents into your underpants and then destroying them....is Sandy Berger up on this charge?
Why do we even make a recruit swear this if it is an empty phrase?
grandma mac
Domestic enemies are enemies of the Constitution of the United States. My take on "domestic enemies" would be the rogue judges who legislate from the bench. This would include any enity that usurps the original intent and meaning of The Constitution.
My ex wife??
Funny boy....that's too limited & personal. But it is funny!
I would think those all qualify! Great list!!!
"domestic" "enemy" that would be anyone who would "attack" the "Constitution of the United States" as per the oath.

Clearly, the old oath anticipated our present Legacy Media :-)
However, my snap impression is that it might have referred
to Native Americans.
Does it apply only to people who take an oath of office?
Judges who depart fron the constitution....wow, that's a thought!
OMG.....that's really broad.....and so open to personal takes on the Bill of Rights. Is that really the official definition?
Yikes! Native Americans? Well, we did start off not allowing women to vote....nothing about slavery.....
I have to go to work now.
Thanks for your thoughts.
I guess since domestic enemy can stand for anybody....it really is meaningless. Sad
grandma mac
No it doesn't, but I would hold those to a tighter standard that have taken that oath.
