In a way, something Snape says in HBP refers back to Draco and Harry meeting for the first time. Kind of, anyway. When Snape is explaining his seemingly odd behavior to Bellatrix, he tells her that he was intrigued by Harry--after all, at the time, nobody clearly understood why or how Harry was protected when VM attacked him. If the protection had not been externally provided, it would mean that even in babyhood Harry was extremely powerful.
The Death Eaters and dark wizards all claim that pureblood is the only way to go, but essentially what they are after is power. Some of them probably knew that VM was not pureblood--especially the DEs that went to school with Tom Riddle. I think they were willing to overlook that because he was so powerful.

If you have finished the book, I suggest you go to this site for some really fascinating clues...some of which have been discussed here and some entirely new clues re Dumbledore,Snape, and other characters. This guy is GOOD!www.dumbledore is not dead That guy is GOOD! I bet he's getting a zillion hits. I certainly plan to keep checking back there as he expands his "clues". Thanks so much for the link.

I found myself sucked into that thread but finally managed to extricate myself. Arguing with some of these people is just not worth it. I never thought my conservatism and my faith would be questioned here at FR.

If you haven't gone to
dumbledoreisnotdead.com
yet...you have to check out the video trailer
for the movie HPGOF! You get to see what
they have for monsters, the rally neat goblet
itself, and what the tri-wizard tourney heroes
look like! Still think Harry will end up with
Ginny after seeing Fleur? Remember...the wedding
between Fleur and Bill Weasley hasn't occurred...
yet!
Be sure to click on ALL the left margin goodies!
Does this guy provide a great site, or what!!

The writer thinks that since it takes 2 people to get to the locket, maybe the initials are that of 2 people. Regulus and someone else?Mugglenet has an article discussing this.
But I'm really not so sure that you need two people. Remember the "find the antidote" chapter, where Hermione goes to all the trouble of separating the potion ingredients, but Harry simply grabs a bezoar?
Seems to me that RAB would need only a bezoar, and not an accomplice. And Harry will need to start carrying a couple of those little guys around in his pocket.

Maybe it'll be something akin to (good grief!) first season Buffy.
I know, but hear me out!
He could be "dead" for a couple of seconds, thereby eliminating the horcrux, but then sweeps in Ginny, who does CPR, and brings Harry back to life. (a reverse Snow White)
I know, it's way out in left field...

The "Lavender Brigade" link, a few posts back. Pretty innocuous, really--ppaul, the FReeper who posted the link, didn't do anything other than that.
All things considered, not bad at all. We've gone over 800 posts`and so far nobody has thrown a bible at me!

IMHO, one of the Horcrux's is Harry's Scar! For 2/3 of the book I thought the Harry potions book was one of the Horcrux's.

Yeah, they own a driveway and we have right of way. They told us we have no say in anything that gets done to the driveway. They put down 65 tons of shale on 150 feet and gave us a bill for $700. We find out this evening what the judge says about it. That and they are socialist dems and still have their kerry/edwards bumper sticker on their van.....need I say more?

Good thing, I'm a Roman Catholic, and a devout one.
But I like my entertainment which includes SciFi/Fantasy as well as other things.
I'm not going to let a Bible thumping hypocrit question my faith because I read FANTASY, SciFi, FICTION.
That's my rant for today.

I really empathize. We share our driveway with the slumlord-owned duplex next door. There are currently four tenants in the duplex--each with their own car. If we don't park our van waaaay up the drive, they can't maneuver around each other--so I do the nice thing. They don't. They zip in and out of the driveway without ever bothering to check if my kids are outside playing, they're always blasting their awful music, they don't stop their friends from parking on our side, and they are
pigs. Dump their ashtrays and yadda yadda wherever, they don't care. One of these days I'm going to ask the city atty if I am legally allowed to put a fence down the driveway. That'll learn 'em!
So what did the judge say?
