Actually five posts, but yes. And the content of each post must be unique, no accidentally hitting post more than once.

Invisibility cloak...good catch. There being no mention, apart from Scrimgeour's, of a captured DE really bothers me. That guy is up to something. He is not just an inept, cheerleader-in-chief for the Ministry, a la Fudge. He's sinister.

Ditto disappointment in the near-absence of Neville. Luna, too, although Rowling has bestowed upon her some annoying quirks.

By the way, I'm astounded that in 500+ posts, *everybody* has respected your request to not hijack the thread for other disputes!

I am pleased and impressed with the show of respect and restraint. Kind of funny for me...I have posted fifty or sixty threads in my time. The two with the greatest number of hits and comments have been this one (which opens with a plea for manners) and a FReeper Family Table thread, in which the topic discussed was "The Death of Manners." Hmmm...

Funkle = three or more posts in a row by the same poster

Hell, I needed a new tagline! I do that all the time. Having kids underfoot makes for intermittent FReeping.

Greetings!

I finished the book for the second time last night (made for a very late dinner.)

I believe I found proof that Dumbledore was pleading for Snape to kill him, not to save his life:

"...at that precise moment, the door to the ramparts burst open once more and there stood Snape, his wand clutched in his hand as his black eyes swept the scene, from Dumbledore slumped against the wall, to the four Death Eaters, including the enraged werewolf, and Malfoy.

"We've got a problem, Snape," said the lumpy Amycus, whose eyes and wand were fixed alike upon Dumbledore, "the boy doesn't seem able-"

But somebody else had spoken Snape's name, quite softly.

"Severus..."

Okay, now, fellow sleuths. Why would Dumbledore have been pleading for his life when he spoke Snape's name? At no point in the passage does Snape appear to be threatening Dumbledore in any way. If Dumbledore believed Snape to be on his side, it wouldn't occur to him that Snape was about to kill him, unless it had been arranged beforehand.

Ha! Back to OOTP, to figure out what clues I missed leading into HBP.

"Dirty Harry (Potter)"

Don't tell me that Andrew Robinson wouldn't make a great Voldemort.

I think there's something to the Dudley thing because DD was (1) circumspect and (2) not clever. I think if it were about Dudley being spoiled and nothing else, DD would have been explicit and witty. It seemed to be a clue and she'll probably resolve it in book 7. I don't think she'll break very much from the structure of the previous books.

You are so fast. I am reading it really, really slow this time. They are just making their way to Slughorn's.

You all have me just about convinced that DD's death was prearranged with Snape.

I do read quickly. Too quickly sometimes...when I catch myself skimming I make myself go back a page and start over.

Comes from many years as a child, curled up in a quiet place, reading everything I could get my hands on.

The Goblet of Fire website is open. There isn't much there, but you can view the trailer if you haven't seen it yet. It also has teeny pictures of some of the characters at the bottom- Cho, Rita Skeeter, Mad-Eye Moody, Madam Maxime.

Remember in OOTP, when the Order was sitting around the kitchen table the morning of Harry's hearing and Tonks said to be careful of Scrimgeour because he was asking too many funny questions? It was a casual mention, but here he is in book 6 as Minister of Magic. Hmmm.

They have a small pic from Goblet of Fire in the new issue of Time (don't hit me!) lol. I think it's a scene from the Quidditch World Cup, and they also have a pretty long article on JK Rowling in there. Good read, but I found it funny that they were discussing the "progressive" strains in the HP series, when we're all debating the "conservative" ones. :) If you can read it online, or see a copy of the magazine, I'd recommend reading it.

I am thinking of re-reading HBP tonight...I am such a junkie. :) That, and I am afraid I might have read too quickly the first time, lol.

Hmmm...I'd forgotten about that remark. I might have to re-read OoTP again, too. :)

Nice pickup.
