Today is the 4th of July 2005 Americas Birthday which commemorates the Continental Congress adopting the Declaration of Independence on 4th July 1776.
President George W Bush commemorated the day by visiting West Virginia University Morgantown, West Virginia, he gave an address and afterward he greeted the crowd by signing autographs and shaking hands of military personnel.
It was announced today that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will visit tsunami-hit parts of Thailand next week.
On Saturday Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld acted as Grand Marshall at the Pepsi 400 NASCAR Race at Daytona.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
From the "Old Line State"!
Sorry about the mixup last week about posting the DOSE on I think it was Tuesday?
But I didn't get the Fr message until Tuesday morning, and the the next few evenings we had t-storms or threats of t-storms in the Baltimore/Anne Arundel County area.
soooo!
I didn't get to come on like I was planning to.
But I did some lurking at my work (on my breaks and lunchtime) so got my Silent DOSE anyway! LOL!
How is everybody?
Hope you all had a terrific 4th!

We spent Labor Day weekend 2 years ago at Valley Forge, PA. Incredible stories of the army and General Washington! I'm wearing my "Patriot" t-shirt from Valley Forge right now.

Ah well - the cat was bound to come out of the bag eventually.
I love Gen. Richard Myers - Joint Chiefs of Staff.
The VietNam Vets on the Mall for Memorial Day really appreciated him, too. He spoke directly to the subject of MIA, KIA and the audience just loved him all the more for it. Then, he thanked them for their service, thanks that they had NOT received when they came home, and the audience broke into this tremendous applause.
So real, so kind. True Air Force - blue all the way.
Nice photos, SoCal. Do you get to sit outside your place and watch the fireworks or do you have to walk a ways to see them?
The video of the '88 Republican National Convention that I was watching this afternoon actually had a shot of then Vice President Bush's children, not identified by name though. They all - Jeb and his wife, Doro, W, and Laura looked so young!!! And beautiful!
Ping!
Happy 4th of July.
Genealogy is great! My dad was born and raised literally down the road from where Washington was born. I have not established a family connection and don't think there is one with Washington, but Robert E. Lee is a 5th cousin 5 times removed to me thru my grandmother. Our family tree branches also include presidents Madison (Dolley too), both Harrisons, both Bushes and Nixon.
Thanks for sharing, so we can live vicariously with you. Happy Fourth!
I've been working on my mom and my dad's families for over 25 years now.
I thought you might like that
My pleasure
We all love first-hand reports because they invariably reveal how human, how quick on the draw and how - well, just how human and lovable this President is. Dontcha just love him?
Thanks for the report. Write it down so you don't forget one single detail to tell your Grandchildren!!!
(Memories face, dontcha know and sometimes we don't remember things as vicidly as we once thought we always would.)
You're related to Dollyy Madison!
She's my favorite First Lady of the 19th century! :o)
Absolutely! I didn't want to leave. We spent our honeymoon in 1976 traveling thru all of the UK-- England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. I have to believe we'll get back there someday!
Hello my little hobbit I am glad that we rarely get storms that bad here in the South of England that I would have to stop surfing.
Oh, thank you for that information! I am watching the PBS show now, but I knew this wasn't the one Dr. Deb was talking about!
Do you get to sit outside your place and watch the fireworks or do you have to walk a ways to see them?
At the end of the balcony landing of my apt. bldg.
I can see the fireworks from the bay.
Are you folks going to watch any? There are some
at Sea World, I see some of those.
I did not read the post carefully enough but a great story anyway.
Mr.FF wanted to know if I wanted to watch Capitol Fourth-- I saw Mike Love and quickly came back to the computer! A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to be in an elevator in Atlantic City with Mike Love and several other people. One young woman got up the nerve to ask him "Are you Mike Love?" and he was totally rude. He's been completely off my list since then.
