KY on Fox???

Posted on 06/29/2005 8:26:17 AM PDT by Scarchin

Okay - I'm a teacher on vacation and watching Fox news.

It's 11:00 in the morning and an ad comes on for "KY massage and personal lubricant." The husband lights up when the wife says "personal lubricant" and she says it again at the end of the ad and winks. There is a clear sexual tone to the ad.

Is it me or is this out of bounds?

Anyone else see it?

I'm calling FOX and I'll post what happens.

Let's advertise cigarette ads on TV again. When I was a kid, I always loved those ads. I remember the ads for Kool cigs.
btw, despite those ads I never became a smoker although the lefties claimed I would.

Personally, I'm a huge fan of the new KY 'warming' jelly!

It's Salsa-licous!

I'm with you on this. I have seen that commercial several times and been glad each time my 12 year old daughter is out of the room. It is not the only one that causes me embarrasment, however.

I have ALWAYS thought the tampon commercials were embarrasing under ANY circumstances, even in the company of my husband.

You have got to be kidding. Of course, after Viagra and Cialis, nothing surprises me any more. What a course culture we have become.

It's par for the course.

Have you watched a golf tournament of TV lately? I change the channel as soon as the commercial break starts. I had to tell my daughter the Levitra pills are to help your performance playing golf.

What other tone can you use when pitching KY other than sexual?

You may have a point if this commercial came on during Yu-Gi-Oh.

Let this one go.

I think the ad is funny. The warming KY ad is even better.

I was taping a show on Lance Armstrong this week which was on FitTV. I had never even heard of this station before.

There are ads for KY rubbing oil, with a couple in their bedroom. She looks at the camera with a knowing smile while the husband breaks out the bottle and the tag line is something like "open it up and see what happens".

I haven't seen the ad to which you refer, but it looks as though KY is ramping up, maybe to go along with the new condom ads to be airing during prime time .

There have been ads for cialis or one of those during other early evening shows on Fox and it drives me nuts.

I guess so. Oh well...

P.S. Fox just had a message box.

I think the pepto ads where they do the macarena-like dance is pretty damn bad.

Have fun!

Ahhhh...well, FOX did have Gen. Wesley Clark on last night as a military "expert" doing commentary on Bush's speech, perhaps there's a connection?

Why not just explain that its something that some grown ups need to use from time to time and leave it at that? I'm a firm believer in being honest with children.

Your big mistake is that you saw this ad on Fox. However, if you had seen the same ad on CNN at that time you may have found more support for your protest.

"As I said in another post, would you like to explain the ad to your 9 year old? Part of my point is that it's 11 am here."

Why does an advertisement require explaining? Why does something like that require any explanation beyond "it's something for adults", or "that's an adult topic"?

What's to explain? A personal lubricant..explain it like you would any other lotion. Did she specifically ask about the wink? If not, then what is the problem?
